Well there's my point. Why would they be for it when, as you allege, they operate completely outside of the day/night cycle?

I'm curious. What are those?

• Year-round DST means the sun will rise very late in winter, which will make it harder for people to properly wake up, leading to an increase in car accidents. And kids will have to go to school in the dark, but I suppose American kids don't walk or bike to school anyway.
• DST also means the sun sets very late in summer (this is of course also a problem with the "changing clocks twice a year" variant), which makes it hard for people to fall asleep.
• Of course there is also the "omg standard time = correct time, sun should be in the south at 12 o'clock out of principle" thing but that's probably the worst argument.

I think the main complaint is that changing the time screws up your internal clock, not that it is too difficult to physically change the time on the clocks.

No, I would prefer the hour of sunlight in the morning

I'm not saying they are farmers lol I'm saying they are lazy and sleep all day or don't have a job that makes them get up early. If you don't understand why someone who wakes 100% of the time when it is sunlight would be for the sun staying out an hour later vs earlier benefits them, idk what to tell you.

are kids really lining up in the streets like bowling pins in the morning enough of an issue to screw up having light for everyone? I remember hating the sun going down so early when I was a kid. I'd just get home and it was cold and dark at 5:30 and I'd fall asleep. it also meant that when I waited for city busses after school that creepy figures would be walking around, making up stories asking for money and shit.

So are we gaining the hour forever, or losing it like now with Spring?

I kind of feel like a lot of people ITT are confused about what daylight savings time is. Were in daylight savings time now, when we spring ahead.

I like this because it stays lighter longer, and its dark in the morning so I dont have the sun blaring in my face on the way to work (which I cant stand). And idk why but when the sun is out longer it just makes doing things more appealing than when it gets dark at like 4:30.

Not only does Daylight savings not make sense, but it also makes no sense to cut the days shorter when the days are already shorter, and to make them longer when they're already longer in the US

But the sun will still be out till around 730ish in the summer with DST.

But with standard, it won't come up till close to 8:30am.

What are states like Arizona gonna do? They're officially mountain time but during DST they're Pacific time and their clocks never change. Will they stay Pacific or move an hour ahead and stay there?

Why not switch it off forever?

Daylight Savings Time itself is an old boomer relic that no longer needs to exist. I say throw it out and never look back.
