Gordon wouldn't judge your food if you were against him, that's not how it works. Still would be a funny visual if he's cooking his dish and still has time to go diss your cooking.

You know he absolutely would rip into the terrible stuff people would cook if competing against him.

What people don't get is that making food you like at home is nothing at all like working in a professional kitchen.

Yes, if you have an entire day to do a bbq for 5 people then sure, you can make something pretty great. I'm sure you have your own legendary steak rub or whatever. And every person who turns up will tell you it's perfect and eat it anyway, except for uncle Steve...but everyone knows he's an asshole anyway. You'll be very satisfied with the 6 steaks you cooked, which is probably half the steaks you're gonna cook all year round.

Whereas a professional cook would do 250 steaks in 3hours with each one having to come out in a tight timeframe to a very specific level of doneness. In order for everything to work it has to be uber efficient in time and cost.

That's the difference.

Most people suck ass at cooking. Clearly worse than most restaurants 80-90% of the time.

It wouldn't be hard. All chefs do to make shit taste good is throw a bunch of salt and fat in the food. People at home usually go for the healthy route

hmmm, i'd like to know how and where the poll was conducted. this says what company commissioned it and what company conducted it, but not how they conducted it. i'm thinking either it was through some media with a target demographic that could skew the results (like a cooking blog or something), or a whole lot of people are overestimating their cooking abilities, cuz that percentage is insane.

I'm sure they could take on a professional chef. They'd get their asses handed to them, but I suppose nothing is stopping the challenge from happening in the first place.

Honestly the answer to this question depends on who's judging.

You can cite his star portfolio all you want but the majority of America, especially the south, would find Gordon's food unsatisfying. Most people would rather eat a rack of ribs that's been smoked for 18 hours while you sleep than some fancy ass pate marinated in rose wine with extra classism sauce with $400 crackers and unpronounceable cheese that tastes like licking a camel's scrotum.

Too many people talking about how bad his grilled cheese is and not enough people talking about how bad his ramen is.

Speaks a lot to what another poster said "depends on who's judging".

As long as the judging is done blind, maybe. If the judges know who made what dish, then there's almost certainly going to be bias one way or the other.
