I blame the people who complained about Samurott and Serperior not being bipeds for all that has come since!

I don't think it's exactly that people don't want them to stand up... but more they don't want them to turn into a 90% human with bulging muscles.

But I mean, if that's what you want... then to each their own.

I saw one (shitpost) fan art earlier predicting Fuecoco evolving into a "sexy" Salazzle type. People would be so pissed, lol.

I think people are overly focused on the bipedal thing. The actual shift in starter design is since Gen 6 the final forms each have a conceptual theme beyond just being <element> <animal>.

like Emboar stands up, but theres not much more going on with him other than being a big fire pig. After that, you get a mage, a wrestler, and a soccer player.

so even if the little cat grows up to walk on four legs still, I assume its going to be something other than just a big grass cat.

That's been the problem with starters since Gen 6. They feel more like characters than animals that would actually exist in the wild. Gen 6 wasn't the worst about it, but Primarina is the only final form starter from the last 2 generations that I could actually imagine as a wild animal.

Pokemon has always had Pokemon like that, such as anything with "clothes" and the like. It just stands out much more when it's a starter, is the problem.
