I would. He did everything he could to accommodate the customer, tried to make he request, but wouldnt break rules to do so. When he couldnt do so he politely told her no. She then made a scene around the entire restaurant, clogged up the drive thru, then got in his face and tried putting her hands through the window. There is a reason these things have to be logged. Sure he could have just grabbed bacon from anywhere and done that, but he cant do that for every customer. Things cost more with certain items. They are told to do things a certain way. There shouldnt be any of this well you SHOULD be able to, because the company has already outlined how things SHOULD be done.

The employees simply pull the meats out of the warming cubbies(where they were sitting for twenty minutes after cooking) and decide which of the two side-by-side sandwiches get each meat. Sure, its a special request, but it's really damn simple and part of what they'd have to do anyway to make the sandwiches. They're simply depositing the meat from Sandwich A onto Sandwich B instead, a difference of a few inches of placement as they're making both sandwiches anyway.

When it gets busy and you have people wanting specific changes that can't be rung up it's just begging for something to get fucked up, and fuck-ups lead to delays with other orders, leading to potentially more fuck-ups. Best to tell entitled Karens how your restaurant operates and that you can't accommodate their asinine requests.

E.g. we had a regular to liked to share a hamburger patty with his dog, so he literally asked for the patty to be kept on the side. Not a difficult request by any means.

She's trying to skirt pricing. The custom item that she wants is a standard 2 for 5 item. Even without sausage the other item is still a 2 for 4 item. The deal does not allow you to cross match them.

While technically it's the same amount of food, it doesn't actually fall under the deal. She'd have to order off of the 2 for 4 and Frankenstein them herself.

Well I was, for the chain where people make the 'in the Crack' jokes. And I have this attitude towards the average worker because I was in their shoes and could figure simple shit out. But the average teen worker these days is often too busy staring at their phones to even be present.

As I said, it's literally as simple as 'take the meat you're about to dump on sandwich A and put it on sandwich B instead'.

To take another example it's the same reason when I go to a place like Subway and they ask what I want on the sandwich I simply say, "Skip the lettuce" and wait because 4 out of 5 times the dumb employee IMMEDIATELY reaches for the lettuce. But after a second or two my words tend to sink in and they stop before the lettuce hits the sandwich. Only then will I tell them to put on 'everything else'.

The average fast food worker is indeed as dumb as a bag of bricks. Maybe they hate their job, maybe they're daydreaming of being a streaming celebrity, maybe they're just not that smart. Whatever the reason, 80% of them get tripped up on the simplest of requests because they're fixated on following a script; kind of like call center employees who literally follow a script.

Also, about this...of course they reach for the lettuce. Because they ask what you want on your sandwich and the only ingredient you name is "lettuce." Do you not know how muscle memory works? It tends to be automatic. The problem in this scenario is you.
