I was about to say yeah, but apparently what I bought were TG-16 games

There were a decent number of those. I think only eight or nine C64 games came out and they got delisted even before the store shut down

I just noticed that Bandai Namco already removed the One Piece and Dragon Ball Z games at some point in the 3DS eShop.

That means One Piece: Romance Dawn is no longer able to be obtained legitimately at all any more.

Glad I got Dragon Ball Fusions, the best-dumbest Dragon Ball game

Damn I thought the DBZ games would stay around at least for this

The 360, PS3, and Vita stores are still up, all older than the Wii U and 3DS.

I thought Vita was finally shut down.

PS3 was going to be shut down too but the demand for it to stay open was there and Sony adjusted their plans accordingly.

I know none of these stores were ever going to stay open forever, but I do think Nintendo pulls the trigger too early, especially with the 3DS.

I guess all of the anime-licensed games from Bandai Namco for 360/PS3 got delisted at some point because I don't see any of the DBZ/Naruto/One Piece games for sale on the PS3 store.

You know, on one hand I am happy that all those arrogant "the eShop won't close down like the DS shop did! that was a third party company but now Nintendo owns the server" are proven wrong because god fucking damn were they annoying
But on the other hand, of course those news suck

The thing that I don't get and never will is why do this in the first place. As a sysadmin of a somewhat small company (like 1/100 the net worth of Nintendo) I might not know the costs of everything, but I do know what we have - and I know how stable most of this shit is
We have around 2 Petabytes of storage. Barely any maintence needed. Gotta replace a disk once every 4 months or so, oh god the horror.
So what exactly are they so butt hurt about? and the most idiotic part is that the storage servers will remain (to allow redownload) so why does it matter to them if they just disable the option to purchase new games? how much maintanence this shit needs?

Even if it's not profitable anymore (and it probably isn't) I don't think they lose too much money over this anyway

There's a pretty big difference between the Wii U and the 360/PS3 in terms of install base, and there are probably a lot of people in developing countries that are still using a 360/PS3. Even then we're already starting to see games shutting down their 360 servers (Halo, GTAV are recent examples), and they already tried to shut down the PS3 store but caved to the pressure. Who is playing a Wii U in 2022, let alone buying 40 year old VC games on it?

Looks like I should pick up my missing Layton games sooner rather than later because the damned things never seem to go on sale.

...And given what the thing costs these days, it'll stay that way it looks like.
