All this nonsense with the extreme anti-vaxx/anti-mask/anti-doctor shit has just gotten to be way, way too embarrassing. I'm tired of hearing cringe-inducing defenses like "my body my choice," which isn't nearly as clever of a reversal as they think it is. It's just a whole lot of silly stuff that makes me wanna separate myself from their banner. --- I write Naruto Fanfiction. Trump was fine, because despite his rhetoric and the constant media-smearing, he was accomplishing a lot of things I wanted him to accomplish, with regards to strengthening border security, military/defense upkeep, keeping us out of wars, focusing more on energy independence, encouraging projects to source American steel and other resources, etc. etc. He got pretty fucking silly near the end, there, with the election fraud hullabaloo, which is another factor in my withdrawal from the party. Between the "Trump is the real President" and the "Masks are oppression/dictatorship/etc." tripe, I just can't do it anymore. Too many things I don't agree with have become the primary talking points of the party. My dad is still a pretty hardcore Republican, and he watches Fox a lot of the day, and the amount of time they spend talking about anti-vaxx shit is just absurd. I'm lucky I got to my Dad about the vaccines before Fox convinced him not to get it. --- I write Naruto Fanfiction. Like...The Batman, for example. The actress cast to play Catwoman looks phenomenal in the role, wears the suit well, etc., but people complain because she's not white. Like, bro? It's not that serious, actually. It's not like Selina Kyle is iconic because of her looks outside of the Catwoman suit anyway. It annoys me with regards to Star Wars, too. I personally like Rey, and I like Jyn Erso, and Fennec Shand is one of my favorite Star Wars characters like...period...because of her appearances in The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett, but of course you have people complaining because she's not a guy, or not a bit part? Like, honestly it's one thing to complain when the casting is just outright bad, but in a lot of cases they'll complain even when it's perfect. There are tons of great examples of white characters being played by minority actors--Kingpin in the Ben Affleck Daredevil was actually pretty fucking awesome.
