I have been looking forward to this game all year. I was planning to take a few days off work when it came out just so I could sit down and play it non-stop.

It looks great - but you never get to play anything. It is just cutscene after cutscene. No customizable characters & virtually no customization that I can see.

I haven't been this disappointed since someone recommended Undertale. I'm so glad they had a demo so I don't have to spend any money on this game.

I was kinda wondering about the class/job customization given how many people were comparing it to FFT.

I was very disappointed with Octopath Traveler so I'm a bit hesitant on Triangle Strategy. Live A Live looks like one of the first games to use that beautiful look that will actually be a decent game.

Whoa. I didn't know they were remaking that. Really underrated game.

I thought the world of Octapth - it was a great game IMO. One of the best in the last decade.

I'm most looking forward to the Dragon Quest 3 HD remake - but who knows when that will come. Live A Live is also a great game - glad to see the style take hold. Triangle Strategy looks great, it just plays like garbage.

It's closer to Fire Emblem. You don't create the characters, just find them. And as far as I can tell you are locked into weapons and class for each character.

Supposedly there are a lot of of characters to recruit, but I clocked nearly 2 hours with only 1 battle in the demo. No way I'm sitting through all of that nonsense.

About 10 minutes. Then cutscene, back to main map. Clicked on all the side-quests hoping I could have more battles, get more experience & find other units. Cutscene, then back to map. Huh. Click on main story. Cutscene. Then back to map.

There was some exploratory stage like a typical 2D RPG and then more cutscenes. When I was bumped out to the map again, tried another side quest hoping for a battle, but nope. Cutscene. Back to the main map and click on the red dot to advance the story. Cutscene. Then I'm back to the map and I just couldn't take it anymore. I had about 2 hours invested and I wasn't willing to invest any more.

I agree, I didn't like it much either and FFT is one of my favorite games. Triangle Stategy Prologue felt very shallow and boring.

they could've jus made another fftactics game set in ivalice

That's fair, I didn't give it much of a chance. I was pretty frustrated with the clunky dialogue in the first few hours. It still looks amazing, I was so excited when it was announced. Perhaps I'd like the world if I could get past the boring-ass dialogue (probably just my opinion).

Yeah, I've been emulating a lot of stuff lately, so that was on the list...but the remake looks like it'll do it well. I like zany games and it fits that bill.

Live A Live is not very good. It's interesting but spreading out its ideas over so many story-lines made them all wind up being shallow and underdeveloped. The writing in particular is quite weak. I know SquareSoft never really churned out genius scripts but at least with a long focused RPG you'd build up some momentum and grandeur. Live A Live does not manage that despite trying to run a thread through all the stories.

Also, the demo for Triangle Strategy was decent but it being from the Octopath team leads me to give it very little benefit of the doubt. I don't understand how that game is generally held in a positive light when outside of the graphics and sound design it's a sub-mediocre RPG Maker campaign a student could have made in 1997.
