After hitting only one letter on the first try, I tried a 5-unused on my second try... and then a 5-unused on my third try. Once I had the four letters (and knew what was in the middle), it was super easy... but it took 4 tries which sucked.

Two Cs had me scratching my head.

FYI, "bitch", "whore", and "sluts" are no longer recognized guesses. Other offensive words will probably no longer be recognized soon.

I also recently found that you can't guess a certain five-letter word that's a synonym for "crack" and that also denotes a sound effect, even though those meanings of that word are perfectly innocent. I feel that removing offensive words could easily get out of hand, if one offensive meaning is enough to get a word banned.

First time doing one, kinda cheated to do it, I looked up words after my fourth guess.

I suspected that it started with cyn, and that the fourth letter was i but I forgot that cynic was a word, so i looked up words that started with cyn

Apparently this is my first 6-solve. Ouch. After my starting word, I did more of a guess hoping to get lucky before I tried to eliminate some words.

For my fifth guess, I'd forgotten I'd already eliminated that letter, which was a whoops. However, it made finding the right answer easier.

Probably for the best, since most people aren't going to think to guess that anyway. I guess "fucks" will probably get removed, too, and I will give several fucks about that.

Unless you're playing on hard mode, it helps to eliminate letters when you have a ton of possibilities. (Something I don't always do, but should.)

I'm in New York, but I haven't switched over to the NYT site yet. I wonder if that makes a difference.

afaik, the original just redirects to the NYT. I haven't updated my link and it always takes me there. And I had the normal word, not the thing you had.

I can't even get the old site to pull up it automatically redirects to NYT

So strange. I wonder how long how I can stick with the original site

And then I used the three letters to figure it out in a split-second. Although for some reason I was thinking the word had an "h"

Ugh, just had a bad few days in a row, all 4's or 5s sigh. Keep guessing the wrong freaking vowels for m y first freaking word.

At first I was kicking myself for going with the more obvious thing instead of the less obvious thing I thought of (thinking I'd get it in 3), but it wasn't either of those >_>

Plus since I've switched to more direct letter elimination on the second try (if I only match one letter), the odds of me getting it right in 3 are far smaller (and the odds of getting it right in 2 don't exist, since I'm trying 5 new letters)
