After seeing others posts, I realized I may be slightly psychic lol, cause I pretty much always choose the right word when it gets down to a few choices.

My first word was plans, I should mention I almost always do a word with 2 vowels, but I never do the same word, and for some reason today I just went with plans (it's totally random).

Anyway it wasn't a horrible first choice as it showed the A and let me know there was an S.

My gut said the S was the first letter and against all convention or logic, I went with Shack because I had a feeling lol, I was hoping to get it in 2. I WAS close, but sadly not correct, but the first 3 letters were right and I now knew the 4th was K (since it wasn't the 5th).

So I had Shak heh....there was no other choice at that point besides Shake.

If only I had used the force a bit better and put Shake instead of Shack....I would have had another 2 guess. I have never gotten a 1 guess though and I have seen some other posters do that on here, so I am certainly not the most Psychic , but yeah, there is no logical explanation for me getting so many 2 or 3 guesses.

I have 2 that I got in 2 guesses and 6 in 3 guesses out of 22, so around a 33% average on getting it in 3 or less. I have 4 that took 5 guesses so far though which I hate. None have taken 6 and I have not ever not guessed it before 6.

I also always take letters I have already discovered (hard mode) even though I don't turn that on (don't even know how).

That's the one I saw people using a bit ago and I have had great results with it. Knowing the vowels of the word are pretty crucial and that knocks out most in one word.

If I don't have luck with adieu I also saw people doing wonky with their second word. That has also worked great for me. If I can't get a clear idea of a word pattern with adieu then I'll use wonky. If adieu gives me a good idea I'll try a new word for my second guess and go from there.

Yeah. After I saw your word, I told my co-worker about it. Getting the vowels early is really good. And wonky as a second gets the last vowel, and some other good letters. I think I might try that tomorrow

I was definitely Team Adieu + Wonky before the Wordles in this topic, they're great starting words. I've been trying not to rely on them lately for a bit more challenge

I generally go for any word that uses 2 vowels and 3 of the most common consonants.

While it doesn't lock down the vowels like Adieu does, I usually get at least 1 vowel out of it, and it limits the other vowels. I tend to try and get R for sure and S alot of the times but I play it by ear/my gut as well. Things like Board or drain etc. I have gotten nothing a few times I think because of that, and those tend to be my 5 guesses, but I just like using a different word to start each day, and also like the randomness involved. If I just used the same word, I would probably always solve by 4 or something but it wouldn't be as risky!

Always throws me off. Part of the reason I didn't go with that on my third guess is because we've had a couple words like that recently and I was like "nah they're not gonna keep using these types of words..."

Would removing double letters make the game too easy?

It's just luck if my first guess sets me up or not. In this case:

My first guess was Cadet. In general I always pick something with 2 vowels (rare expections) and 3 common letters (S/R/T/D/C/L/N) pretty much. It's random which I choose.

So Cadet had 3 letters in the actual word and 2 were in the right place already. There are no words with a as the second letter that end in ct, so C had to be the third letter. I had already gotten rid of a and e, so I knew it had to be I O or U as the 4th letter, I tried just about every consonant first before tacit (because I discounted T). There was pretty much no other option based on my first guess.

It's pretty much been like that every time I get a 2.
