I'm stretched between these two.

Springfield is importing the VHS-2 under the moniker "Hellion". It's pretty much a bullpup G36. Not sure when they're actually starting to sell them. The MSRP is $1999, but I'm sure street price will be more like $1700.

On the other hand, the Rockstead SHU is kind of a grail knife to me. I've always wanted one and it's a bit less pricey at $1520. Still a bit of a wait thought. I'd go with the rifle. Seen some really nice knives I'd like to have, but I don't think I could ever justify more than a hundred or two on a knife and even that's a stretch.

I'd spend it all on gold. This world is going to burn anyway. At least you can know the aliens will use our gold for their force fields. Before then you can save up and make a nice 1 Kilo Cuban link.

Why just a women's shelter?

Do you need that for the civil war you fantasize every day about?

$1500 for a knife? Why? I could see that kind of money for a sword, but a pocket knife? That will get all scratched up if you actually tried to carry it, and that you might end up losing?

Most I've ever spent on a knife was about $120 for a Victorinox SwissChamp XLT, though that was an absolute steal as they normally run $200+ on Amazon. I carry it with me all the time and use it almost daily and it's got the scratches to prove it. It's one of the few pocket knives/multitools that has a nut driver specifically designed for those stupid hex posts on VGA and serial port connectors, that alone was nearly worth the price.

If I were to choose I'd go for the gun because it's unlikely you'd ever do more than look at the knife where with the gun you could shoot targets

After you stab they inject gas into the target and makes it go boom. Designed for defense against large predators like bears and sharks. I have one and it's a lot if fun (only have stabbed things like watermelons but still)

If you're going to spend that much on a knife, at least make it a knife you'll actually use for more than just opening the occasional box and get yourself a really nice chef's knife. Better yet, get a whole set of nice kitchen knives, since you see pretty dramatic diminishing returns on that kind of price and you'll almost certainly be better off getting several $2-300 knives than one $1500 one.

For everyone wondering why that knife is so expensive, they're not just for show. All of them are made in Japan by master knife makers. They're hardened to between 67-72 HRC. That's hard enough to cut glass.

This. If you actually need to cut glass, you can get a dedicated glass cutting tool that will not only be cheaper, but will also do the job much better than trying to do it with a knife will. If you just need to break glass, the butt end of a dollar store pocket knife will generally do the job. If you aren't trying to cut/break glass in any way, "hard enough to cut glass" is just a matter of selling you cool-sounding words, not any actual useful function.

I would be far more interested in purchasing tech with that money.

The gun would be more fun. But if you already have a few guns that fill that same role, then go for the knife that knife that you've been wanting.

Because he thinks that would be a better application of the money. It's arguably arbitrary from an outside perspective, but presumably he has his own reasons for picking that, so it's not random at all (unless he did in fact select it using some sort of randomness).
