Kabutops is one of my favorite fossil pokes whereas Omastar was near the bottom for me prior to the eyesores Gen 8 put out. I still like Omastar though. They do good with the fossils overall.

I only used Omastar in a Nuzlocke in Leaf Green, after my Nideoqueen (Surf slave) died against Blaine. Actually did a lot of grinding on it, so it could be useful for the Elite Four.

Team - L78 Kadabra, L67 Omastar, L60 Charizard, L46 Primeape, L44 Victreebel, L38 Pidgeot
Grave - L49 Nidoqueen

tbh, I don't think I ever used either of them outside of grinding levels for a pokedex entry.

You get the fossils near the start of the game but most of the game is over when you get to Cinnabar Island. I fantasized about rom hacking because it's always been one of the problems I had with the games (fishing pole placement is another).

I thought about making a mad dash to Cinnabar Island (Snorlax>Cycling Road>Surf HM>South of Pallet) but you need the Soul badge to surf and to get that you need to rescue the Silph company to gain access to the gym Edit: Oh wait, I guess it's possible? Was confusing Soul with Marsh Badge.

Meaningless decision, tbh. I think I picked Dome the first time, then Helix most others but either one is useless (iirc, Aero has sometimes been good?)
