I mean we no longer have people who do stuff because they love it, Its all about money.

I mean we had Steve Irwin who loved animals to the moon and back and wanted to share all that makes them all amazing.

We had Bob Ross that loved painting and wanted to share that form of expression with the world.

We had Robin Williams who wanted to share laughter and happiness with the world.

And we had Fred Roggers who wanted to bring so many things to kids and show them the world.

Now, the only thing people see is money. "How can I make money from this?" It's very depressing.

What? There are still people who do stuff because they love it, and there have always been people who only focus on money.

Okay, name one person currently alive like those I mentioned that do what they do mostly for the passion of their chosen subject.

There's still a lot of people like this out there, you just need to do the research to find out about them.

I'll give you a few actually.

Gail Simone
Fiona Staples
Brian K. Vaughn(sp?)
Patrick Shand

They're all amazing comic book writers and artists who mostly just wanna tell great stories about compelling characters, and feel super blessed that they get to do so. They're also all very grateful for their fans that let them do so.

You wanna do yourself a favor? Check out Gail Simone's twitter feed. She is the literal antidote to a bad mood.

I guess you mean celebrity, or I could say "me"

for someone relatively famous, there are a lot of youtubers that definitely fit. one for example that I've been watching a lot lately is ElectroBOOM. he's a Canadian-Iranian with a Master's in Electrical Engineering that makes slapstick + educational videos about electronics.

I think too much passion is one of the bigger things that's wrong with us.

We as a modern society have gone too far in the direction of prioritizing emotions and feelings over logic and rationality. Everything is short-term impulse and knee-jerk reaction, and it's slowly ruining everything of any real value. And preventing any real positive change for the better that requires long-term investment or understanding of complex dynamics.

Yeah, it's more this....plus the way we are increasingly comfort/entertainment/self-focused and not community/society focused. I'll agree that few people seem to want to put in the effort to be true experts at anything, though.

I don't think it's really money motivation that's the problem. It's just that other motivations (honor, community status, feeling productive, religion, etc) have all largely evaporated. Say what you will about those things, but a society without some sort of shared principles or motivations simply isn't going to achieve much. Well, nothing GOOD anyways.

Not really true, it's just that now if someone has a passion and is known, sponsors will make them wealthy too by spreading their passion. You don't have to be a starving artist now as there's more than enough corporate money to go around.

I think Hypnox has a bad habit of abandoning topics, even when they generate a lot of discussion. It seems like he just wants to put his opinions out there without listening to anyone else's.

But as a wise man once said, so many times it happens too fast, and you trade your passion for glory.

Which is why you have to fight to keep your dreams of the past alive.
