It doesn't have to literally be daily testing. No measure - not the vaccine, not masks, not testing even if it's hourly or some ridiculous frequency like that - is going to be 100% effective. Stack multiple together though, and each additional measure brings it closer and closer to 100% (even though it'll never outright hit it); and the sooner a case is picked up, the sooner others they may have come into contact with can be alerted and hopefully isolated before they spread it.

That's why combining a vaccine mandate and regular testing would be best of all.

I'm 3x vaccinated, hate the anti-vax movement, but I can't get behind this.

If municipal organizations want to tell their employees what to do, then whatever. You literally work for the government. Them's the breaks.
But the government punishing private companies for not requiring employees to get the jab is a huge infringement on small business rights. Sets a really dangerous precedent that I'm not okay with.

It's a lot easier on literally everyone and everything involved to prevent cases happening in the first place, than to treat them when they do happen. The pills simply mean that if it does come down to the latter, we can do it a little bit better than we used to be able to.

I doubt it, if only because I seriously doubt this will be enforced. The mandate requires that every business have a visible-from-the-outside sign that says "all our workers are vaccinated". I suspect that outside of a few holdout communities like the NYC hasidic jews, most businesses will just throw a sign up and never actually check with their workers. If enforcement is anything beyond only checking businesses that refuse to put up a sign I'll be shocked.

If it is, Adams is going to have to deal with a flurry of stories of police bullying black and jewish business owners (based on vaccination rates, these are the groups most likely to be in violation). Hell, 10% of all NYC workers are undocumented. How does this work when a business is checked and the employees are missing both vaccination AND citizenship papers?

I never understood anti vaxers. How the world has ever got to this point makes no sense. There's been so many awful diseases thst have been essentially anhilated in 1st world countries thanks to vaccines.
