One interesting statistic is death rate per capita by state:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1109011/coronavirus-covid19-death-rates-us-by-state/

You can see that there are states with lower vaccination rates leading at the top. But in quite a few cases, you can also see states with higher vaccination rates and/or mask mandates/passports/lockdowns that are worse off than states without those requirements or instances where the numbers are close to one another. For example, this stat shows NY leading in deaths versus Florida. Quite a dramatic difference in COVID policy and vaccination

You're not taking into account that the NY/NJ area was basically where the outbreak happened in the US so of course they would be higher up as a result of that

That is a good observation to make. I'm not sure if there are any "real time" trackers that consider the same per capita data by state to see if there are differences between the first outbreaks and current deaths.

But I would also point out that if you scroll down the list, you will see other scenarios of states nowhere near the Northeast that have higher vaccination rates and stricter polices, yet still more deaths per capita.

I think forcing grown adults to receive a medical treatment is crossing a line.

we're not forcing them to. we're punishing them if they don't.

just like we punish you if you don't sign up for selective service

freedom doesn't mean freedom from consequences.

you might also wonder why houston is using statista instead of covidactnow which lets you direct compare deaths per 100k from one state to another on an adjustable timeframe

especially since it actually is mildly supportive to his point--NYC is currently experiencing a very large uptick in death rates from omicron that is pushing it past the less-vaccinated, conservative states that had significantly higher death rates per 100k up until now
