I know this is the Kaiji in me speaking since I just finished Kaiji, but this show reminds me of a fusion of Kaiji and Assassination Classroom. But now they're revealed for all to see, and while I don't like them as much as Tropical-Rouge's designs from last year, I do like them. Yellow seems like the cutest to me based on first impressions, plus I'm intrigued about that dollar-store-brand Tuxedo Mask in the back. How long has it been since we had a male human(-like) supporting character playing a major role in a Precure series? Just got pretty boy detective club left to read, and possibly a Monogatari reread (though today I did binge a lot of second season which I'm watching for the first time). The yellow one is voiced by Yuka Iguchi, and there's also an unnamed villain-looking character (and potential candidate to be a late-joining Cure) voiced by Ai Kayano, both of whom are pretty big names. Main story was pretty decent too. ~~I liked Nyx and Akechi Holmes was pretty entertaining, kind of hoping they pop up again the subsequent series~~. Basically a bunch of historical figures get isekaid into a fantasy world and have to help the inhabitants fight an opposing group of historical figures who lead a monster army. As a result you get some fairly cool shit like Oda Nobunaga helping train and arm some elves to pull off a Seven Samurai-esque defense of their village against troops from the evil empire. The awkward comedy does really wear out its welcome though. A couple of lines did get a chuckle out of me however. To say this show is a total shitpost is an understatement. This show is Pop Team Epic levels of shitpost. It might even go beyond (Plus Ultra) Pop Team Epic in sheer shitpostery. If I didn't shut my brain down each and every episode, it might burn out for good. This show manages to be offensive to all 5 senses and even 3 additional senses that don't exist. In a good way, though. Have to complain about the subs though. All of season 1 and the first half of season 2, every piece of text on screen was subbed perfectly and thouroughly. They clearly put a lot of effort into making everything perfect. And this show has a LOT of on screen text. I'm talking needing to pause every 5 seconds to see everything. I can't think of a SoL that has this much text, either for gags, or w/e. But halfway through season 2 it just.... stopped. Maybe someone else started subbing from there on or something, but not a single piece of written text was subbed for the later half of the season. Title cards and signs are one thing, but there is literally a character that doesn't speak whatsoever and only communicates through emails. And these idiot subbers aren't even subbing those anymore. There was a 10 minute chunk in the final episode all about her and I didn't get ANYTHING from it because not one thing was subbed. With all the text in this show, it feels like the second half of the season I was only watching half a show.
