Pretty funny. I feel like people will choose if they give a pass to the content of stand up just based on how much they already like the person. Bringing up old movies has literally always been a thing in stand up. It doesn't decide if the bit surrounding it is funny or not. If you reject the premise of a joke without caring to hear where it goes, you're being bias. Because the set up is such a small piece of the actual joke.

Tbf, I think I missed that stuff. So, I can't judge him based on that. I wasn't going out my way to fuck with him and after he got outed, his stuff stopped being in my face. I do think objectively he's one the best to do it tho.

He definitely was, but it mostly a knee-jerk reaction. I think he was just scared tbh, he lost a lot of fans. But he's definitely mellowed out now, too.

That seems to be the typical path they take, Chappelle has also gone downhill a bit on the comedy angle since he was also cancelled. Though from what I hear CK did a lot of worse shit, Chappelle's biggest mistake was not being accurate in making fun of the LGBTQ community.

It seems like once they are canceled they have to devote at least 10-15 minutes of every show talking about it.

Not really. You should read his published apology since it's literally the only one of these things ever written that demonstrates he understands what he did wrong and why it was wrong.

I want to address the stories told to the New York Times by five women named Abby, Rebecca, Dana, Julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not.

These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isnt a question. Its a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly.

I have been remorseful of my actions. And Ive tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now Im aware of the extent of the impact of my actions. I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position.

I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didnt want to hear it. I didnt think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it.

There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with.

I wish I had reacted to their admiration of me by being a good example to them as a man and given them some guidance as a comedian, including because I admired their work.

The hardest regret to live with is what youve done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them. Id be remiss to exclude the hurt that Ive brought on people who I work with and have worked with whos [sic] professional and personal lives have been impacted by all of this, including projects currently in production: the cast and crew of Better Things, Baskets, The Cops, One Mississippi, and I Love You Daddy. I deeply regret that this has brought negative attention to my manager Dave Becky who only tried to mediate a situation that I caused. Ive brought anguish and hardship to the people at FX who have given me so much The Orchard who took a chance on my movie and every other entity that has bet on me through the years.

Ive brought pain to my family, my friends, my children and their mother. I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen.

Watched the special and it was hilarious! I really like Louis CK's stuff. I know people like to pretend nothing good can ever come from someone who has done something wrong, but he's still funny. By the way, people really have no sense of nuance. If someone does something bad, it doesn't matter the degree of severity, they're just supposed to be blackballed forever, apparently. Regardless, the material should stand on its own merits. You don't have to support him, but you also don't have to pretend it's not funny just because you don't like the guy (or were told to not like the guy).

Never found what he did to be wrong in the slightest and Twitter just being it usually self. Special will probably be hilarious.

How was it not freely given? You can say he abused a power dynamic and I can say this was all 15+ years ago before CK was a household name and that he had little to any professional authority over these women.

None of that really matters. One adult asked another adult if they could masturbate in front of them and they said yes.
