What do you want out of this life?

A gf, family of my own and the finical means to support that lifestyle.

How will you obtain said want?

Keep applying for work and hope for the best I guess. In the meantime I'll just enjoy what I have.

Also I want to paint my pool red. I saw it in a meme and it looks fucking amazing.

When I was really young, my grandmother would torture me. She would hold me under the water while i struggled to breathe, she stuck me in a shed outside in Arizona that was filled with cobwebs and extremely dark and lots of other things.

At that point I just wanted to die. I eventually learned to kinda ignore time, and no matter what was happening it would eventually be over.

She eventually died and all that stopped, but that lesson, the method of ignoring time, it didn't go away. I had nightmares for years and would get depressed due to them. I have always just been waiting for my life to finally end, and have focused on trying to make the world a better place for others along the way.

Over time I did start to enjoy things again, have motivation and goals etc, but it's still always been there, just the desire to eventually get to the end, when it will all go away and the things I have experienced will no longer matter.

So what I want out of life is to get to the end with the least amount of suffering possible, to help prevent suffering in others, and to try and make the time pass as quickly as possible, by staying active/busy the whole time.

For the most part I have been able to do that, to avoid extreme suffering or pain, and to help others do the same. I have helped many people and gotten good friends and family in the process, and I have enjoyed myself as well. I still just want to get to the end, but I will continue to enjoy the process as much as possible along the way.

Are we talking complete fantasies or realistic dreams?

If we are talking complete fantasy I would like to be super rich and save the world from itself by ending things like poverty, oppression, and war while also being the greatest artist, businessman and athlete to ever live.

Realistically I want to be an author, like I don't need to be Stephen King big but I want to do well enough that I can support myself doing only that while still having a positive impact on others.

To be able to move out and find stable work that will allow me to pay rent.

I've no clue, anymore. I've no marketable skills, I've no experience, and I've no idea of what I could do to make a living. I panic every time I must think of what I want to do next, because frankly, I've no idea anymore.

I appreciate your openness and highly recommend you talk to a therapist if you haven't. I don't blame you if you're skeptical, but I'm convinced you can move past the trauma you've endured and experience a sense of happiness that you probably haven't felt since before you were abused and forced to develop coping mechanisms. Your younger self obviously deserved better and once you're able to truly weep for that child, I think you'd be amazed by the amount of doors that would open in your life. Idk what's available in your area but I would see if free/sliding scale counseling services are offered if finances or insurance are a concern.

I think I already achieved it to be honest with you. And I did that with doing some Bob Ross inspired paintings. For years I used to always watch this guy paint or just put me to sleep at night, lol. And for years I always told myself I couldn't do it. But after hearing Bob say otherwise many times: "You can do it. I know you can." One day I picked up a paint brush and supplies and got to painting about a year ago and I have now painted dozens of paintings and I remember everyone I ever did. I only paint occasionally though as a means of therapy when I need it. But when I do, it feel like I accomplished something very important in my life for once.

That's tight. I've never cared much for drawing but I've been getting frustrated with music as a solo endeavor. I feel like I'd be much more gratified seeing my completed paintings as opposed to recording a song and uploading it or even getting it pressed.

My friend likes to say Ross invented ASMR. I don't watch him often but you gotta love his humility and encouragement

Idk anything more about the guy than what he shared in that post. I don't doubt he experiences happiness or enjoyment, but if he's perpetually focused on getting to the end and passing time as quickly as he can, it sounds like life is more inconvenient than anything for him. He could continue living that way, but it certainly sounds like he could be getting more out of life. But I don't know the full picture so maybe my perspective is irrelevant

I don't really paint but Bob Ross' lessons still helped me train my brain to create "the illusion of distance", as well as a better variety of textures using a pencil or pen
