Do you think this was white privilege?

A White 17 y/o Chicago Drug Dealer was given just 3 YEARS of PROBATION and 100 hours of community service after he plead guilty to MURDERING 15 y/o Elias Valdez in a drug deal gone wrong!!

The Glenbrook South High School student was found stabbed to death on August 5, 2020 with multiple wounds to his chest when he took marijuana from the senior without paying.

The boy started running as the unnamed killer teen chased him before they stopped and fought and he then took out a utility tool blade and stabbed him to death

But Cook County Judge Steven Berstein said the teen, whose name cannot be published because he's a minor said he was disappointed in the young man's choices and said "I see you as a child like you who has 2 parents concerned with his welfare. You're a bright kid with a bright future. I don't think you're a murderer, but you killed this child and you have ot live with that for the rest of your life. That is your punishment."

He then turns to his parents and says "You'll never get closure. I wish i could tell you you will. Your son will be your heart forever. Give your son the attention he deserves because i truly believe he will thrive to be the best he can be"

Valdez's family are outraged over the decision after urging the county to charge him with first degree murder

It was the first death in the village of Glenview since 2004

They held protests outside the police dept claiming the defendant was benefiting from "white privilege" after killing Valdez, a Latino..

Marcela Fierros, the boy's mother said she was living in a dark tunnel after her son's death stating he too had dreams to accomplish and his goals to graduate high school and wanting to be in law enforcement.

His sister Paola said her brother didn't deserve to die like this and justice was not done

But David Kerstein, the teen killer's lawyer said this was no white privilege and the death resulted in a chaos of violent conflict who said it takes 2 to make a drug deal and mr valdez was a buyer. He said he is not innocent either and that the 15 y/o was a wrestler star who managed to bodyslam the 97lb senior before he stabbed him.

Alright, so this story is terribly retold and very confusing. I had to look it up for myself.

The kid who died is named Valdez. Valdez was buying drugs, probably just weed, from the defendant. He tried to run without paying. Defendant chased and a struggle ensued. According to the defendants lawyer, Valdez was on the wrestling team, and the defendant is under 100 pounds. Valdez got the upper hand, mounted the defendant, and started slamming the defendants head into the ground (this is, again, according to the lawyer). Defendant reach for a utility knife he had on his person, a struggle for the knife occured, and Valdez was stabbed multiple times in the chest. Died later in hospital.

Alright, that's the unbiased gist.

So I'm in that weird situation where I'm always skeptical about kill the witness cases. This seems like a fairly plausible series of events however.

Sounds like the judge knows you don't try to scam a drug dealer.

If this account of events is accurate, this verdict seems reasonable. The altercation resulting in the dude's death was very much a consequence of illegal activities (whether dealing weed should be illegal or not, since that's a separate discussion), but nothing a minor should necessarily be seeing jail time over. The actual stabbing can be at least kind of called self defense, and there's definitely no case for murder 1.

So the dude chased the dude and killed him, but it's self defense, lmao. Good to see who the racists are on this board.
