It certainly happens sometimes like with the 3DS launch and Skyward Sword's rerelease but for the most part the consoles are pretty affordable. And while I don't like Apple, their phones do tend to be some of the most powerful on the market (maybe not the most powerful... Keep in mind Nintendo had been a card company up until the NES came along and they single-handedly revived console gaming and gaming in general in the mid 1980s with the NES. Apple chips are about equal in power to mid/high mid andriods, but due to the iOS being so tightly controlled by apple, with also specifically being made for that chipset.
