Calling it a "buzzword" implies it is a recent invention. That's the issue everyone is having with what you're saying. People have been regularly/consistently using the word for several decades in relation to worker strikes. Hell it was used on Seinfeld when Kramer was on strike from the bagel shop lol

In some cases, but the union at my work has teeth. One time a new safety guy came on and his first grand ambition was to put cameras in the cabs of all the trucks. The union chewed him up and spit him out. Then the guys printed out and plastered the victory emails, telling him to basically get bent from the union, all over bulletin boards around the different facilities.

It is actually a problem because it means that our education system failed in teaching the struggles of workers, particularly during the gilded age. That is of course intentional, we can't have people learning about the power of collective bargaining, or the fact that the Government, Police, military, and private security forces used to murder workers for trying to unionize. Mostly we can't have people learning that direct action by large numbers of organized workers is the greatest force for political change.

I learned most of what I know because my Great Great Grandfather fought at Blair Mountain and in most of the Virginia Coal Wars as an organizer, which made me interested in the subject as a youth.
