Like even outside of the action and colorful superhero shit it's just a well-written, character-driven, well-directed, and visually competent movie I also love how it "looks". Like it looks like something shot in our world. Every MCU scene looks too clean, too high tech. --- Not removing this until Mega Man 64 is released on the Wii Virtual Console. Iron Man 2 copied it and the MCU doesn't follow the Iron Man formula. They stopped with Age of Ultron because honestly it doesn't work for sequels. One and done for all intents and purposes. Harry and MJ actually had character arcs and fleshed out personalities, while Aunt May acted as the heart of the story and had real influence in Peter's growth. The world they lived in felt authentic as well. MCU Spidey barely feels like Peter Parker. He's too closely tied to the Avengers and the superhero world around him and hasn't ever felt like he's grown into being his own superhero yet despite having more movies under his belt than both Tobey and Andrew. He's just a sidekick in his own movies. Meanwhile, his friends are all just comic relief characters with no real personalities or arcs to speak of, while Aunt May just acts as eye candy for RDJ or Happy. It feels insulting to the characters they're supposed to be portraying. Tom Holland has potential to be a good Spider-Man, but Disney/Sony have to actually let him be Spider-Man first. There was some good stuff in Homecoming, but Far From Home felt real cash-grabby with an awful plot. It says a lot about the movie that Doc Ock has some of the best special effects in the genre to this day and yet he doesn't even make the movie. And yet, yeah, I think an argument can be made that SM2's action is better than Infinity War. IW is a giant CGI fest. The POV shots of Ock's tentacles attacking the physicians is more visually interesting than any shot in IW. The way that Ock's movements send tremors throughout the city that physically shake the set as everyone on screen waits helplessly for what's coming is amazing. By God, in the scene where Ock throws a car at Peter, you can see Mary Jane's boobs bounce because of the tremors. When 50% of the cast's primary attack isn't giant science beam / giant magic beam, scenes like all the metal in the warehouse flying into Ock's reactor are much easier to visually appreciate.
