No supposedly about it. I have proof of that.

But to directly address TC's points:

1. YouTube walkthroughs are time-based media. Searching them for the one thing you need is a massive pain, even if the video creator uses tags.
2. Wikis, being multi-author, are not necessarily curated to a particular standard. Too many cooks can spoil the broth.

Well, yeah, you make guides and can see how many views they get. I dont, and everything Ive seen about it has been on CE. Which purges so I cant cite. So supposedly was the best I could say.

Also, it's one of the few forum sites with the classic posting format intact. No upvote bullshit, no ranking by order of popularity, no rewards or any other arbitrary voting systems that ruin the atmosphere.

It's pure, and it should stay that way.

Dedicated text guides have better searchability than videos, and they, when comprehensive, usually will be better than the average wiki guide. Though that ultimately depends on comparative quality of both.

This, and I'd rather have an easily searchable document than searching through a video every time I need something. I also collect data like script dumps and battle algorithms so text is a necessity.

Wikis usually have shit formatting and are plagued with half finished or abandoned pages. Websites like IGN often leave their guides incomplete. YouTube often aggressively waste your time with pointless commentary and a lack of time stamps.

A well formatted text based walk through/FAQ is almost always superior, particularly if screen shots are included.

The forum usage might be going down because of the popularity of Reddit, and such, but SBAllen posted something a few years back that holds true today:

There's no objective practical benefit to vinyl, whereas there's a demonstrable advantage to having every word of the guide searchable as plain text on a single page compared to splitting it up across multiple pages or concealing some of it behind drop-down menus.

I ain't got time to watch some jackass narrate how to find a treasure chest for a quest on a YouTube video for 15 minutes when I can hit a GFaqs guide and Ctrl+f to find what I need in under ten seconds

YouTube walkthroughs may be better for newer games, but most content creators aren't going to spend time on an old or obscure game where there's a fresh and new game that's out.

That's where we come in.

I would rather Ctrl + F scroll through a guide then chancing finding what I want in middle of a +10 minute video with ads.

Some Non gamefaqs guides are terrible these days too. Like they make a long ass intro and not get to the point..

Videos definitely do help, but first thing I look for are written guides. Gamefaqs or not, faster to read through than watching a video

Ctrl+F is a lot easier than scanning through a four hour video hoping to find the right segment.

Creators who use copious time stamps or pair it with a partial text guide are the exception rather than the rule from what Ive seen.
