10+ years ago Procrastinator, the TV salesman, helped me. He said Vizio is a pretty good brand and thats all I know. I still use that same TV but I think its time to get WITH the times and get something 4k

Vizio is pretty much your basic Target/Walmart TV brand. It's fine--any TV made in the last few years will be leagues beyond a $3000 TV from 10+ years ago.

tldr the M-series has better color and will be superior for gaming, but both are fine. If you're just looking for a 4K TV that won't break the bank, these are good. But you're not getting a premium TV with a Vizio.

Oh wow proc told me they were competitive with like samsung. Maybe at the time .

Samsung has lower end TVs that compete with Vizio, but also really good ones that are way more expensive

I guess I don't know what a bad TV and a good TV looks like

Vizio P series at least a year or two ago was in line with the top brands.

I haven't kept up too much lately on tvs but my recommendation is to make sure it has hdmi 2.1 and low input lag if gaming on it.

Vizio isn't bad. But you just need to decide if you want something cost effective or if you want a premium TV.

Man I already thought having different kinds of like, 720 1080 bullshit was enough

I thought "4K" was just 4K

but there are like, different levels for that too depending on the TV

Literally every all of them is sold out except for one of them. So your options are literally limited to one TV.

In my experience, if it isn't from LG, Sony, or Samsung you generally want to stay away. Audio issues, screen quality, poor settings options...I've been burnt twice within the past 8 years or so by one each of a Vizio and a Westinghouse. Now I'm a snob with an OLED.

Burn-in has become less and less of a concern over the years. You'd really have to be keeping a still image on your screen for thousands and thousands of hours to be at risk with a newer panel (~2018 and later), and idk who would be doing that.

ehhh, kinda? OLED is a display technology that has each individual pixel lit on its own, or shut itself down entirely for a true black, which offers a perfect contrast ratio (basically it can go from sheet white to pure black without any "gray" overlap). OLED TVs are consistently the highest rated displays on RTings.com and are replete with all of the bells and whistles of any modern high-end tv. If you have a current-gen console, they can take advantage of the HDMI 2.1 tech to offer Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and I know at least the LG sets have G-Sync for PC use as well, but I can't speak for Sony or Samsung OLED panels. If you're willing to spend ~$1200 or more it's easily the kind of TV you can get and know you've got a top of the line set for years to come.

I'm trying to justify upgrading on the 4K TV I got 4 years ago just to be able to play games that support 120hz, but probably not going to do it yet
