Pic is funny but did M do anything about the situation? I would suggest correlating delivery addresses after 15 minutes sit time. Because tips will become worth it if the drop offs are close together,

My brother's friend works for uber eats. He claims that even if you don't get tipped, you can make insane amounts of money from doing lots of deliveries, the company pays you on top of everything. Not sure if they're full of shit, or if it's just the local area, but they just break into the 6 figure range. So when I see stories like the one in the OP, I have to wonder what the hell is going on, cuz I don't know shit about the industry.

All the places I order from seal the bags with stickers or staples. if that is broken like it has once or twice, I just refuse the food, call up customer service, make a complaint on the driver and get a full refund. No big deal.

If you read this thread entirely you get a good understanding of why these folks actually deserve more money.

The problem is people tip bait on these apps. They tip a generous amount and then switch it after the food is delivered so they can get better service. They also lie about the condition of the food so they get it for free. Guess what? If you are going to be so lazy you do not want to drive to mcdonalds or whatever restaurant's food you are craving then you should have to pay way more for your food than normal. That means paying $20 on a $5 order. If the job is so easy that the price is not worth it then get off your butt and go pick it up yourself. No, you do not want to do that. You want the drivers, the delivery service or the restaurant to charge you less instead. Sounds like you should shut up and pay whatever they ask you to pay if you are too lazy to drive to pick up your fast food which is killing you.

This is what happens when you want the food more than you care about your money. Maybe try eating healthy and not being so pathetic you want your food delivered to you from your favorite restaurant which makes addictive food.

Every time you go pick up your own food it's like you work for Door Dash, accepted an order, and tipped yourself $20 bucks.

That's money in my pocket.

Some markets are better than others for sure. If you dual apped DD & UE and really hustled it, you could feasibly hit 6 figs in the right area. Would be a ton of work and wear on your car, but possible.

In my current area, aint no way that is happening, especially with UE only. Ill get 3 pings in a 4 hr late night run from UE, of which maybe 1 or 2 are worth taking, vs 10+ pings from DD. The service fees on UE are nuts now by me, so most folks have wisened up and are primarily ordering through DD.

Because Uber Eats lets me do it. I still tip the normal 15% on top of all the delivery fees, but I just say i'm tipping 25% beforehand. Once Uber Eats doesn't let me do that anymore, i'll stop.

As far as calling up and complaining- If they fuck with my food, i'm gonna fuck with their jobs.

Yep. The big difference is the employment nature of waiting tables vs independent contractor nature of the delivery apps. Anyone can say what they will, but the fact is that when youve taken a job waiting tables you are under the control of the employer. You cant pick and choose which tables or customers you wait on. Same thing if youre on the payroll as a pizza delivery guy or whatever.

With the apps though, you can accept or decline at will. Dont like the offer? Dont accept it and move to the next.

I cant imagine the service I'd get if I tipped like a flea.

I don't understand why anyone would want fast food delivery that food is trash and already too expensive now you have to pay additional fees plus a tip to get this over priced sub par food that by the time you get it will be cold. I would rather just make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich than order McDonald's delivery.

1. Not everyone has access to cars or transportation in general. That taco bell on 1st Avenue might not be within walking distance

2. I only order fast food at night, and I'm usually stuck working night shifts. We don't get lunch breaks at my job, so I have no choice but to use GrubHub. I can't wait until after I get home from work because all the restaurants are closed by then.

I used a lot of the delivery services a fair bit in the heart of the pandemic when everything was closed to dine in, but have mostly stopped and rarely got fast food. Some of them really upcharge you like crazy, but at least around here Door Dash seems to be the best at keeping the prices reasonable. If I want to eat a sit down restaurant meal at home, I don't so much mind tipping the driver instead of tipping the waitress, but using it for fast food seems to not usually be a good idea. I've done it a couple times just because I have a toddler and going somewhere is sometimes a pain, and they offer random promos some times that make it worthwhile.

Thats dumb. I tip well when I order pizza (from the pizza place itself), it the service is good. Im glad I dont use any of those apps lol doordash, Uber, or Ubereats, etc I wouldnt give a good tip beforehand because I dont know if they deserve a good one. Sucks that they cant be fired I wouldnt mind if all those places just disappeared

Also, those bags seem huge. How much food are people ordering there? I usually get a small bag that can hold all my food

You can edit tips on Uber and DD up to like 12 hours after you make them. So you can easily put a higher tip and then adjust it.

They could do that. But I believe the drivers can give you a bad rating

Thats not the only reason people use delivery, though. Sometimes, people are stuck someplace, like for work or something, where they cant leave. Or are in charge of a bunch of babies and children, and couldnt take all of them, or injured, or possibly have no vehicles and its too far to walk thee and back.
