This picture went viral for Mcdonalds DoorDash orders piling up cause drivers werent accepting the orders due to poor tips when the orders were placed. And Ive seen this trend on social media where Uber drivers and DoorDash drivers arent accepting customers/orders unless theyre getting a good tip beforehand. I dont blame them, they have every right to pick and choose what to take.

But Ive always been someone who tipped based off service. I tip well for good service, and still tip 15-20% for terrible service. Im not familiar with DoorDash - are you allowed to modify a tip after the order? I feel like drivers should be rewarded for excellent service and vice versa. Tipping before a service seems a bit strange to me.

You can edit tips on Uber and DD up to like 12 hours after you make them. So you can easily put a higher tip and then adjust it.

Just go to the place and get the damn food yourself without having to deal with any of this bullshit. Problem only exists because people are being lazy and the drivers want too much for tips.

If a job offered you $20 and another offered you $15 which would you take?

It seems so dumb to blame the drivers for this at all.

I ordered wendy's from doordash last week and it was getting close to the time they closed and I guess was drive through only. doordash person was there waiting in line, texting me updates, even took pics of the line. I think wendy's had run out of something and the driver must have called them when they got there because they had requested a substitution on my behalf (and checked in with me about it). I even told the dasher that if wendy's was about to close, they might be better off just ditching it rather than wasting gas waiting in line, but they said they wanted to tough it out anyway. Wendy's did eventually close and dasher had to leave, but I thanked them for really going the extra mile. If there was a way to know who would be delivering before placing the order, I would tip that person extra every time I got them.

What criteria do you use to score the driver's service? They're literally just carrying stuff from A to B and pretty much every aspect of the job is out of the driver's control.

I'm pretty sure you would report it to doordash and the driver would be removed? If anything I feel like this would be more likely with a poor tip don't you think?

i use Postmates and Ubereats like once/twice a week and personally I cant wait until their gone.

a ten dollar meal costs 20 bucks, and the tip is calculated off the 20 not the 10 so 15% tip is 3 bucks instead of 1.50

so to get a 10 dollar meal you have to pay 23 bucks lol. I only order when they send me promo codes so my 10 dollar meal is like 13-14 plus tip which is fine with me.

but the whole situation is stupid as fuck and its not on us to pay the tip when were already paying the company. Complain to the company to give you half the surcharges.

They (the delivery services) should really stop calling it a tip and call it a bid instead since you are essentially covering the order value to the point where its worth the driver to accept it. It is weird to tip before getting service, yes, but the services base pay is so awful that yeah, no tip will possibly lead to no delivery since drivers can decline very thing and anything.

SuperShake666 posted...
You can edit tips on Uber and DD up to like 12 hours after you make them. So you can easily put a higher tip and then adjust it.

This isnt 100% true. In order to adjust the tip on a DD order you have to contact support. There is no way to do it in the app on your own easily. I dont think there is necessarily a limit to how far out you can ask them to add more tip. I do not think they will let you reduce the tip though, not unless you ran into an absolutely terrible situation (driver ate the food, hit on your girlfriend, etc, and even then DD would probably just credit you the full order)

UE lets you adjust tips up to 1 hour after delivery. That is either up, or down.

Fuck tip baiters who remove the tips afterwards with no justification.

I can tell you right now the loss they have to eat from no one picking those up is more than worth it to companies compared to paying someone to drive

A lot of these orders I guarantee are from people that don't realize or care how much farther a dasher has to drive making whatever they tip worthless

My brother's friend works for uber eats. He claims that even if you don't get tipped, you can make insane amounts of money from doing lots of deliveries, the company pays you on top of everything. Not sure if they're full of shit, or if it's just the local area, but they just break into the 6 figure range. So when I see stories like the one in the OP, I have to wonder what the hell is going on, cuz I don't know shit about the industry.
