The Marvel movie blueprint is repetitive. They up their game with whatever technological advancements come their way, and credit to them this aesthetically looked great, cast was likeable imo, I do think the ethnic representation was set in a positive and non-obnoxious way but it was otherwise a re-skin like how every Pixar film takes after Toy Story.

Is it wrong to do that? No, because it effectively establishes a character and their background, but it gets harder to really make each movie standout. You end up predicting the flow of these movies and it's less of a "ride" apart from the blatant attempt at sensory overload at the final fight/battle.

Yeah, it's a good blueprint, but it's like you basically know exactly how it's gonna play out.

Still, the stuff at the end did surprise me. Unusual for an MCU.

Yes it was. It was actually more like the Netflix shows with the way that at the end the new villain is one of the heroes of the film. Happened in Iron fist and Luke Cage and a Jessica Jones.

a bunch of clearly laid out "checkpoints" with easter eggs laid throughout, making a secondary character look better than the main character, over the top cgi 3rd act even though this is a movie about a guy known for being master of hand to hand combat. shit ended with dragon ball z.

The movie is very formulaic, you know just like almost every Origin MCU film ever made. The only exception would probably be the Eternals, and critics are tearing that movie apart. What makes this movie standout from the other MCU films is the martial arts, it has the best chereograph and action scenes in any MCU film to date.... except for the third act where it becomes your typical MCU CGI fest. This film also has one of the better developed Villains (after Loki and Thanos) for an Origin MCU film, which was one thing MCU films always seem to struggle with for some reason.

The whole time my wife and I were asking each other "Why is Katy here?!" Towards the end we rationalized that she's there so that the other characters have an excuse to speak in English, but then that dosent explain the mid credits scene. We thought it was funny, just wasn't sure if the movie was in on the joke.
