Oof, had I known it'd be going against Sunleth I might've gone for the less happy Beginning of the End.
Divine Love is not winning me over, unfortunately.
I give Final Battle some credit, it's a panic attack in music form, but I associate it with an ending that was a half hour too long first playthrough, and by that point I'm just like "can we go, already?" Bonus negativity: I absolutely hate that song in Theatrhythm.
Thunder Plains needs some more. It's very cool, but there's not enough of it.

Bombing Mission vs. Final Battle is an intense match - I really love both songs, so it's a shame one has to go. Giving the slight edge to Bombing Mission. I definitely prefer the original to the remake.

3rd match toughest, others more straightforward. Damn I love Legendary Beast... just went looking on youtube for an extended loop version to listen to while I have these e-mails to draft and there's no extended loop of the FF8 version, but there is for Maybe I'm A Lion and The Extreme? There's even a 10 hour loop of Force Your Way on there, geez.

...guess I'll just need to loop the original 5:51-length version

True story, when I saw Divine Love was up against Decisive Battle in the bracket I was mixing it up w/ Fierce Battle, which I also like more.

I'm surprised I'm not picking Sunleth in the first match, BotE was a nice surprise! Record Keeper has really good music for some reason, I've liked almost every song I've heard from there. Second match was close too but Divine Love won out. Match three was easy, I didn't really like Final Battle. I also didn't much care for either song in the fourth match so I abstained there.

Sunleth is like a warm blanket, reminds me of how it felt playing through XIII so long ago. But Beginning of the End is really fun! I could go for either but I'm giving it to Beginning, love the bit when the singing is matching every beat.

Decisive VI is to regular boss themes what Terra is to world map themes. They nailed it perfectly there and they've never topped it since!

Don't massively enjoy either of the tracks in match 3 but I find Final Battle to be a more interesting musical experiment so that gets the vote.

Last match is hard for different reasons. Thunder Plains is a really good... half of a song. Beast is a decent track but that's about it. There are so many great tracks from VIII that didn't make this contest, I'm kind of amazed that Beast did over all of them. Anyway I'll give it to Thunder, pure vibes.

i need to stop liking everything all these songs are cool. guess im sticking to the classics today. except in match 4. legendary beast is fucking awesome but i just love the very specific mechanical / electric vibe of thunder plains immensely.

funny how much i disagree with this. we voted differently in every match, sure, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Match 3 is the only one where i like both songs, Decisive Battle is one of my least favorite regular boss themes, Terra is good but it's no VII Main Theme (about tied for second with IX's overworld), and i feel like VIII has the strongest and most complete representation of any game. yeah there are like a dozen+ other great songs that i would hope for in a larger bracket but to me The Oath is the only song that truly feels missing for this.
