These republicans agreed that "true american patriots might have to resort to violence in order to save our country" while 39% also held that belief that 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump

Republicans who back baseless fraud theories are about 4 times more likely to call for patriotic violence

40% of those calling for uprising get their news from Newsmax, OAN and Fox News

Nearly 1/5 Americans agreed that the need for violent uprising in general to stop the other side from transforming america's capitalist and social conservative roots

Mike Sozan, a senior fellow at the Centre for American Progress tells dailymail that democracy is at a crossroads now and it should be a wakeup call to everyone

He said one of the 2 big challenges here is that one of the nation's 2 major political parties is accepting dangerous disinformation

26% of white evangelical protestants believed violence is a NECESSARY EVIL to save a country from socialism and to protect family values

Next was non-Christian relgions of 23% who are "american patriots" that believe that a takeover will be necessary to save the US from people wanting to change it's values

Robert Jones, a PRRI CEO said the findings are a direct result of President Trump after promoting conspiracy theories and elections will never be the same again if one side does not win an election which will further cause more violence and death

Only 30? I thought it would have been more like 50% of republicans. They don't realize the country hasn't gone left, it's them who have gone further right and feel people in reality deserve to die for not existing in their post apocalyptic larp fantasy.

Think of it like rolling three different-coloured dice and recording the percentage of rolls that turn up six. Your data might look something like this:

Red: 3, 5, 4, 1, 4, 4, 2, 2, 5 (0 sixes)
Blue: 6, 6, 6, 3, 3, 5, 2, 6, 2 (4 sixes)
Yellow: 5, 6, 4, 3, 4, 1, 5, 6, 5 (2 sixes)

Overall: 20% sixes
Red: 0% sixes
Blue: 40% sixes
Yellow: 20% sixes

Your percentages won't add up to 100% because you aren't representing the whole spectrum of possibilities with this presentation of the data. To add up to 100%, you'd have to look at the percentages of each number, or the percentages of rolls that came from each die (an even 33.3...%, in this case), or something else where your denominator represents the entire set.

I'm not familiar with the group responsible for this research...and, when I looked into them, the company's wikipedia page is flagged with all kinds of credibility issues.

I mixed up the primary and secondary variables.
I was thinking it meant 'out of everyone who agreed with this statement, 30% were republicans'.
Instead of thinking 'Out of all republicans, 30% agreed with this statement'.
I blame the title of the graph.
