What if William Shakespeares tragic tale of Macbeth, who usurped the throne of Scotland at the urging of his wife, were performed with less gloom and doom? What if, instead, the play were infused with modern music, dance, and a fresh interpretation of Lady Macbeth as an ambitious Black woman with a performance designed to elevate Black female power, femininity, and desire?

So, basically, what if Macbeth wasn't Macbeth, but we still want to use the name for credibility and recognition?

You can remain unconvinced that's worth making a scene over and I would agree. Being only a little discriminatory doesn't mean that the whole production has to be shut down, but when the basic definition perfectly applies to the situation it seems a little unreasonable to deny it entirely.

Does it segregate on the basis of skin color? If so, it's discrimination. What do you have to gain from watering down that definition? You're better off just openly saying that you welcome discrimination in small doses and leave it at that. At least then you're being honest.
