Kylie Jenner has once more been accused of blackfishing after posting videos of her looking tanner than normal in recent Instagram Stories. Jenner, 24, posted a selfie video of herself Sunday which featured a noticeably darker skin tone. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star received major backlash from fans claiming she was blackfishing a modern term describing someone on social media who is pretending to be black by changing their appearance by using makeup, editing, or even surgery. Nobody talks about kylies blackfishing huh. one user tweeted. Another added, Clearly shes trying to look black. One user posted a meme of Jenner holding her head while an espresso martini sat atop her neck and captioned the tweet, She said no one blackfish like me.' Brownnn skiiinnnn guurrlllllllll, someone tweeted alongside a photo of Rachel Dolezal, the former activist who claimed to be black despite being born to white parents. In August, Jenner received similar charges of blackfishing when she quickly edited a caption under one of her selfies from brown skinned girl to brown eyed girl. Another tweeted, i thought that was beyonce at first glance. One user summed up fans outrage, writing, WHY IS HER SKIN COLOR LIKE THAT?

Many fans also compared Jenners situation to the recent backlash former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson faced from fans. so yall get mad at that Jesy Nelson girl for blackfishing but nobody says anything when it comes to Kylie??? Im just confused, one user commented. Another tweeted, She actually looks black, way darker than Jesy.

If she was wearing blackface, that would be wrong of her. If she changed her name, dropped out of the limelight, and tried to convince people she was Black, that would be bad too. But to get mad at her for a fake tan and some lip injections? Who gave the social justice mob the right to decide what a person should be allowed to look like?

Telling a woman she isn't allowed to get a tan isn't going to make up for centuries of social inequality. It just mean you're telling someone what they are or aren't allowed to do with their own body.

The implication is that it's okay to look how you choose to look. But we're on the subject of assuming the worst of someone's intentions. If one simply lives their life on eggshells, they never need worry about something being taken the wrong way. :|

It's possible for someone with biracial children and an exclusive dating prejudice to still be bigoted toward members of the ethnic group in question, but I think it's far, far more likely the internet is getting mad over nothing than it is that she's trying to steal culture or malign an ethnic group.

Hey, this isn't even bimbo it's just trying to look black. The bimbo lifestyle is great when you understand that part of it is an escapist fantasy. Hell, one of my bimbo friends works as a surgeon and another is a ghost writer. It's precisely because they're so educated that they need a mental break from reality. They like the look and so on. I understand that it's not a flattering look. But, yes, I take exception to accusing someone of racism over a fucking spray tan.

These witch hunts don't atone for the past and they don't move us forward as a society. They simply serve to give individuals a sense of power, a feeling that they could make or destroy another human being, at the cost of creating a sense of cultural paranoia. Distrust and mad assumptions are not how you bring about equality and kinship. It's the exact opposite. You're more likely to fuel racism by accusing people of racism than you are to fight it by assuming the worst over any little misstep.

Racism is a problem that I take very seriously. When an agent of the law uses their authority to take a life, and thinks that they can get away with it because their victim is Black, I take that very seriously. When you have people preaching hate and trying to convince individuals that America is first and foremost a White nation, I take that very seriously. When a woman gets lip injections and tans herself to feel better about herself, I feel that's as much her right as if she'd gotten a haircut or tattoo I don't care for.

I'm aware of Eurocentrism in beauty standards.

I'm also aware that it's a person's right to look how they choose.

If a woman lightens or darkens her skin, if she wears her hair in a way that is not natural or culturally the norm for her, she is exercising her right to look how she chooses. It's only wrong if there is malice behind it.
