The problem for me is, with post-Endgame burnout being a thing, and the push to have all the MCU shows on Disney+ integrated into the overall film universe, it kind of makes me never want to watch another Marvel movie again. Partly because of licensing issues involving the original stories and Fu Manchu, partly because of the racist overtones of Fu Manchu, and partly because they decided to sort of fuse a heavily modified version of the comic-book Mandarin with Shang Chi, so the end result is sort of something new. So you're not really missing much by not knowing the prior history of the character. Getting to Endgame was a big deal in terms of getting invested in a very expansive story. Having concluded that story, I'm not in a huge rush to keep going with that universe and invest into new story arcs. By all accounts, the post-Endgame Marvel content has all been well worth watching, but I just haven't found the motivation to dig into them yet, and it's getting harder to find it because "catching up" becomes more and more of an investment with every passing month. That's made even worse by generally not wanting to go to theatres just yet, so the decision to watch them is entirely self-driven and the subsequent knowledge that I can watch them any time I want to kills any sense of urgency I might have had to do so. I definitely want to watch them some day, but I have no idea when that day will be. --- This is my signature.
