My vpn mobile experience came from trying to use my phone as a mobile hotspot while connected to wifi. Which didnt work so it wasnt useful to me.

Consumer VPNs are basically a tax on the tech-illiterate. Most people use them so they can view blacked out sports games and "Canadian Netflix".

you have some really strange viewsHe is partially right, creating your own VPN is a breeze, but most people would rather pay for someone else to do it for them. I find a private relay more secure since even your ISP would have no record of your internet traffic in those cases (just that you are using a relay). --- After 16 years, I have decided my signature will NOT be about my job! First thing that immediately comes to mind is vnc over an ssh tunnel over a corporate vpn which is something I do for work frequently. Only thing your ISP knows in that occasion is that you're talking to some corporate VPN endpoint, which is quite frankly, none of their business.
