I always found them to be pretty meh. If I'm having a pancake that isn't just plain buttermilk then it would be a fruit one of some kind.

I really liked the ihop fruit syrups. If I didn't want the original I always got the blackberry one. For that matter I bet blackberry pancakes would be great.

Oh after googling it it was boysenberry. They discontinued it apparently.

I mean even regular pancakes aren't really a healthy nutritious breakfast, this is like someone taking a super sugary cereal like Honey Smacks and then opting to put it it in chocolate milk, or add sugar to it.

I find chocolate chip pancakes work particularly well with a couple other additions on top of that (namely fruit). On their own, they are indeed pretty underwhelming. One of my favourite ways to do pancakes, though, is to have chocolate chip pancakes with fresh raspberries, a homemade orange syrup, and whipped cream. That's a delicious combo, and I prefer that configuration to making raspberry pancakes and drizzling it with chocolate syrup.

I don't think I've ever seen raspberry pancakes. They always seems to be either used as a topping or just dessert.

I wonder if they would work as a bagel. I miss those bright pink strawberry ones. Not sure if anybody even makes them anymore.
