Any workaround I know of doesnt work anymore. Subscribing to a channel is the only way now that Twitch Prime doesnt do it.

Which ads do they have, the ones that play before the stream starts when you click on a live channel? I feel like I haven't seen those in a few years at least.

Just block the website altogether. It's not the most elegant solution but it works.

I use the extension Video Ad-block, For Twitch.

It's good if you don't mind having the stream quality dropped (or increased, if you're conserving bandwidth) to 480p for the duration of time that the ads are being blocked. But it's been reliably blocking the ads for the past month.
