Warhammer Chaosbane makes it so your flamethrower also shoots steam to prevent overheating.

You can set things on fire for an impractical amount of time, and occasionally explode if someone shoots your tank.

It's a major reason why flamethrowers never really became a major weapon in wars - they burn through their fuel way too quickly, and are potentially dangerous to their operators.

Depends on the game, in some it acts like a mid range minigun, while in others it acutally does light things on fire.

in Painkiller games most (or all) of the weapons have two modes. for that, it looks like it's just a rifle/flamethrower combo though, nothing that interesting.

cook some steaks quick or the whole cow at once.

heat up a sauna or hot tub,

heat up the buildings boiler water.

burn the face off of an ugly chick to make her eligible for reconstructive surgery from her health insurance carrier to make her look hot.

Imeant more, like, you have a liquid/gas aerosolizer with a bunch of tanks... you don't need to shoot exploding fuel, you can shoot anything... like splatoon, except not splatoon 'cuz why would anyone want to actually make a mess

I see, like a "sprayer"

a game I was working on a long time ago and still want to make, I had the idea that yeah, rather than a "flame thrower" you could broaden it a bit to have a "sprayer" (whatever it would be called). there could be pools of various kinds of fluid that you could fill up with, and depending on the type of fluid, "spraying" it should have different possible effects. like you could spray liquid nitrogen for a freeze effect, or water to extinguish certain kinds of flames, or flammables for a flame thrower effect (if you combined it with a torch of some kind), etc.etc.

there are games with fluid dynamics, but none that I'm aware of that have a whole variety of different kinds of fluid. would be great to have a full-on chemical fluid interaction simulation.
