Recently found out he disowned his daughter because she is Bi, which made her lead to become being homeless. Thankfully she is married to a Canadian woman now.

But that really bothers me to be honest and I don't think I can watch his movies anymore because of it.

This has soiled me on the actor, not on the earlier work he's done in the past (as opposed to Rush Hour and beyond). Work he was sort of thrust into. Though, yes, I did like the Rush Hour movies the first time I watched them. Ah well. It's all a shame.

I've heard her reported as being bi before. That could be outdated information, or it could be your source assuming that she's settled into only being attracted to women because she's married (which isn't really how bisexuality works). *Shrug*

...considering his daughter is likely a grown adult woman and this is likely an accusation rather than something conclusive, I'm not as outraged.

This was disputed by Ms Ng's mother, who told the Asian news site Coconuts the couple "should go find work" and not rely on Ms Ng's father's fame to get money.

Gay Star news reported that Jackie Chan said he was fine with his daughter's sexuality, but according to media reports he has never had a relationship with her.

Basically this whole topic is a fucking lie, particularly given that he was never involved with his daughter in the first place (unless he learned about her sexuality from birth) and his daughter was the result of an affair.

I thought you'd support that decision, since he was choosing to not be a parent and you've very heavily supported that idea up to the extent of killing the child. Jackie wasn't married to the mother -- in fact, Jackie was married to somebody else. Despite that, he financially supported a child he didn't want (who was born from a union that wasn't a committed relationship) into adulthood. He should be praised for that, not vilified.

The guy has his own family and his own kids.

It actually used to be a thing that a lot of homosexuals would deny that bisexuality existed at all, because from their point of view, it weakened their own socio-political position. The logic was that anyone who identified as bi was either gay and too afraid to fully come out, or were gay and hadn't yet fully accepted their own sexual identity so were still clinging to the delusion of being at least partially straight. Some gay people could be pretty petty and abusive towards people claiming to be bisexual ("Just come out already, you coward!").

There's been a tradition of whatever new letter gets added to the LGBTQIBBQ+ acronym tends to generate a bit of backlash at first. There were gay and bi people who objected to trans being included because they saw it as a different issue entirely and thought it weakened and trivialized their own struggles. Some gay people disagree with the idea of gender fluidity or "gender queer" as definitions. And so on.

It's not a universal backlash, and it tends to die down over time (especially once the next controversy kicks in), but it's definitely an undercurrent that runs through LGBT+ discussions.

Some are still like that. Another concern nowadays, among the ones who do acknowledge bis exist, is the idea that being touched by the opposite gender makes a bi somehow tainted, unfaithful, or both. Meanwhile, we bis or pans just want to be able to love who we're going to love without judgment.

That's actually not a bad analogy, if we get away from the people that make vegetarianism a formal commitment and instead look at the people that just prefer to eat vegetarian. Sexual preferences are just that: preferences. They're not binding commitments, just broad descriptions of how your tastes generally lean. Sometimes, somebody who generally eats vegetarian will feel like having a steak. That doesn't mean they don't generally prefer to eat vegetarian, nor is there any need to gatekeep the concept of vegetarianism to exclude anyone that ever makes exceptions.

People need to move away from treating sexual orientations as immutable identities. It's just not a healthy way of looking at the concept. Just like who you like (and let other people do the same) and apply the appropriate labels as needed to describe that (while also being willing to change those labels in the future if it turns out they aren't as applicable as you thought).

I don't really know what you mean by this. American celebs aren't that politically involved usually, they just like to say their opinions, and maybe give money. Idk what Jackie's level of involvement is though. And it's annoying when people act like the US government doesn't do repugnant shit. Hell everyone knows that we do, but some see it like some sort of divine right, because we're "the good guys"
