You could put like every modern popstar to emerge in the past decade and I could name like 3.

And yet for some reason... I really like the handful of stuff I've heard from Dua Lipa.

Something about sampling "Your Woman" by White Town gets my attention since I loved that song when I was younger.

Yeah, my pop music knowledge is stuck in 1999-2009, with maybe only the most popular stuff from 2010-2015ish. I have absolutely no idea who is popular today or what songs. If I were to listen to a current top 40 countdown, I'm not sure I would know any of the songs.

I'm curious how you came across "Love Again." I haven't heard it on local radio once, probably because she says "god damn."

"Your Woman" came on at work, which caused me to look up the music video on YT when I got home, in which I noticed someone mentioning it in the comments.

I remember finding "Break My Heart" thanks to Girlfriend Reviews doing a Fall Guys themed parody "Bonk My Head."

Been that way for me for over 10 years now. Even when i go out in the car i listen to classical music or the station that mostly plays 80's/90's era.

Dua Lipa has an animated music video with 90's shoujo anime style, so that's cool.

Yeah, not sure exactly how it ended up crossing my radar but Future Nostalgia is a great album.

The Dua Lipa album from last year might be my favorite pure pop album ever. 5 songs from it landed in my top 3000, an amount matched by only a handful of albums.

Dua Lipa and the Weeknd are the only two current artists I like.

Love again is great. I really like the Your Woman sample. Break my heart and Levitating are also good from that album.

Blinding lights (by the Weeknd) is also one of my favorite songs and it actually broke the record for longest charting song on the hot 100. It also has that 80's feel to it. I'd recommend checking it out.

It's funny you say that, because I was going to suggest to Rock that he also checks out The Weeknd (well, the more recent stuff) but since I don't really know what he likes I didn't want to risk making a bad suggestion. They aren't the only two current artists I like, but they have been consistently enjoyable the last 2-3 years in a way few others have been.

Ava Max's kings and queens is another one I forgot about that sounds 80's, but I didn't really like her follow up song (my head and my heart)

fun fact but "Your Woman" is not actually being sampled in Love Again because that part of Your Woman is a sample of another song, though it is absolutely was inspired by it

Anyways yes there are a ton of great pop artists now, especially if you are into that nostalgic sound. 80s/90s/2000s throwbacks are all reasonably big.

i think love again is one of the weaker tracks on future nostalgia (your woman is the superior song using that sample imo) but it's still good.

This for me.

I used to listen to a talk show blend on my morning commute that had a good split of talking and top 40 so I could stay up to date

I knew nothing about pop music at any point, so this has very little to do with being old.

Unless you mean pop as in popular, since I listen to other genres, at which point yeah, I basically closed myself off to new stuff a while back. More or less coincided with the fall of buying CDs for me.
