Do you respect people who are avoiding the vaccine and willing to get the virus and roll the dice with their lives on it?

31 y/o Alexandra Blankenbiller, an unvaccinated TikToker with 20,000+ followers made her FINAL videos on her page begging people to get the vaccine as she counted down the days she was at the hospital and overhead the "moans and screams" of others and was terrified of dying...and she sadly passed away a week later due to complications of COVID-19!!

She said in the video "I don't have a lot of energy for talking so i'm going to try and make this quick. I did not get vaccinated. I'm not anti-vax. I was just trying to do my resarch. I was scared. I do think it was a mistake. I shouldn't have waited. If you are even 70% sure you want the vaccine, go get it. Don't wait. Go get it. Because hopefully if you get it, then you won't end up in the hospital like me."

The videos were made on August 15 and she died 9 days later.

She said in an earlier video she waited to try and convince her entire family to get vaccinated at the same time and that she had her own hesitation with the news of the vaccine causing DEATH in itself and long term effects that will never be reversible.

She said it was Ok to have questions but she was telling her followers now if you were thinking of it then to get it and don't wait for other people to get it with you to convince yourself it be easier to go as a family when others aren't going.

Alexandra said she and her 2 sisters all made appointmsnets to finally go get it...until the unthinkable happened when ALL of them fell ill and she got the worst of it among the 4

Cristina, her sister said "It's no secret this is something that should be taken seriously"

Rachel, her other sister said "Her final video really showed a lot of who she was. She was selfless. The type of person who used her final days to help others. She loved people without judgement. Regardless whether you wanted her love or not, you'd get it"

Blankenballer recorded videos of other covid patients screaming from the pain in the background as she was terrified of dying from the disease.

This comes as Florida reported it's worst death count of 2200+ people in a week with over 100,000 cases as the state continuse its no mask, no social distancing mandate

The United States is still only 53% fully vaccinated as a large portion of the population are still hesitant or forever refusing the vaccine

Do you respect people who are willing to avoid the vaccine and to get the virus and roll the dice with their lives?

I respect that there's a lot of information out there and it's difficult for somebody without a science background to sift through it all and figure out what to believe. I don't respect how unwilling so many people are, however, to listen to and learn from people that clearly know more than them, or how so many of them will content themselves with the first source they find that conforms to their pre-existing beliefs and try to pass that off as "doing their research." It can be very difficult to realize when you've fallen prey to the Dunning-Kruger effect, given that that's just how it works, but people need to try much harder than they do to be aware of it.

Similarly, I respect that humans are innately very bad at risk analysis and that bombarding people with statistics that prove they shouldn't be afraid doesn't actually do anything to assuage that fear. I also respect that the decision to deliberately take a risk by getting the vaccine is inherently more intimidating than the random, external risk that an actual Covid infection would be. What I don't respect is people insisting that the statistics are wrong or don't matter instead of admitting that they're afraid and trying to come to terms with that fear. Fear is normal. Nobody should be ashamed of being afraid. Letting fear keep you from doing what is objectively the right thing, however, is cowardice. Cowardice is shameful and should not be respected.

The problem with people not getting the vaccine is if they get Covid it's worse and they can also unknowingly give it to others, and as Covid continues to mutate to be more transmissible this becomes more and more of a problem.

This isn't like some guy that smokes like a chimney and mostly hurts himself in the process.
It's also not like some meth addict that uses it all the time and will likely die young.

Depends the person if I respect them however I'm all for choice so don't get hot and bothered if people choose to not get a vaccine for covid.

I would have some respect for an individual who does so, but is willing to accept the consequences of their actions.

that would involve:
NOT discouraging others from getting vaccinated.

and

NOT taking up a hospital bed if they got sick from covid 19 so they dont waste hospital rescources on their own stupidity.

AND

they continue to mask up when indoors around people or outdoors and within 6 feet of people and social distance until such time as Covid-19 is fully eradicated.

then they deserve respect.

anything short of that then they are not taking responsibility for their choice.
