If the Conservatives win a minority, what do you hope happens?

Justin Trudeaus gamble on a snap election is backfiring as canadians dont seem to be pleased on having an election during the pandemic despite most canadians approving of his handling of the pandemic and are voting in that fashion by voting for Erin O Toole.

The strategy copied BC snap election with NDP leader John Horgan called for one during the pandemic but voters were satisfied of his performance by nearly 3 to 1 to the opposition and ended his cooperation with the Greens and formed majority government with a landslide....

The difference here is that Trudeaus popularity with the public was only up by a few to 5 points compared to 15 points in the BC election.

The Liberals in Nova Scotia also lost in a shock majority win by the Conservatives when pollsters thought they would win majority or minority at the least.

There is only 2 weeks left before the election and one more leaders debate if Trudeau wants to turn this around despite being dogged by anti-vaxxers across the country fledging his campaign when he announced mandatory vaccinations for federal employees.

The Conservatives are polling to receive the most seats but will fall short of a 170 seat majority and if that happens have to form government with another party which are all left leaning parties..it is unlikely to be the Liberals but the Progressive NDP has worked with the Conservatives to form government in the past when Stephen Harper won in 2008. In the upcoming seat projection, the Liberals and NDP will not have enough seats to form government and would have to form with the Bloc to remain in power.

It is quite clear that Jagmeet Singh of the NDP will have to decide if he will work with the Conservatives this time around

I still think it will be a Liberal minority government. I'm usually right with election predictions. I even correctly predicted in the last election that the Liberals would lose the popular vote but still win the most seats, with quite a lot of irony given that in 2015 they campaigned on introducing rep by pop elections (which if they had kept that promise, they would have been out in that last election).

The Liberals' ideal for election reform was a ranked ballot, not prop rep. With a ranked ballot, they'd pretty much never lose another election, since they're at least the second choice for most voters. Prop rep was the favoured option for the NDP, who routinely end up extremely underrepresented in Parliament based on their share of the popular vote and would therefore stand to gain a much stronger platform if the popular vote dictated their representation (likely still no majority governments, but more than the handful of seats they tend to have).

Calling for a snap election always seemed like a crappy and pretty shady thing to do. I can totally understand the populace "punishing" the party that decides to hold one. Especially since obviously they're only going to do it when conditions seem favorable to them. It's kind of schadenfreude to see snap elections backfire on the party that decides to have them.

I guess the counter argument is that voters have the memory of a fucking goldfish and the scheduled elections are usually a reflection of the past 6 months' (black swan) events rather than the past several years' events, so trying to re-do an anomaly result is reasonable. The voters do fucking suck. Though...the party that benefited from the anomaly would likely be the one in power and thus be the ones to decide whether to hold a snap election...
