I didn't HATE the bow, but.....and this is just me, once I got the shield, I just didn't see the purpose of the bow. Honestly even the spear is better for me, although there was a few combos I liked with the bow before I got the shield/spear (got bow before both of them).

I did find running with ranged (which pretty much meant the bow) was alot easier initially then the sword. Actually I have not run with the bow in eons so I really should give it another shot.

But yeah, Shield just rocks since it bounces between enemies, seemed to do more damage, had a charge that can deflect as well (though I usually have dash reflect anyway) etc. Shield gives you a strong melee attack when that is better also.

Bow isn't HORRID but if I remember right I used the multi-shot special most of the time with that since it didn't need to be aimed as much, but it's damage doesn't come close to comparing to a shield throw.

mhm. the hydra is probably the easiest of all the bosses, even on em3 where it gets way more hectic.

the bull and shield guy boss is harder than fuckin the end boss though, seriously jfc is that boss a wall

Hydra is much easier with ranged weapons. Honestly think shield is the best for him tbh (shield for me is good for all of them). Hydra though is REALLY easier with ranged attacks since the heads all do a slam attack if your near them. You can dash/attack/dash attack but you'll still probably get hit. If you dash/shield throw/dash/shield throw, you can take the outer heads without taking any or much damage (especially if you have dash deflects), and you can just stand back from the main head and shield throw at it, and with deflect special, you'll get rid of it's ranged shots as well (except when it does the chain shots, just dash away for that).

Basically the first 2 enemies are cake with ranged, the third boss fight is way easier (I think) both with ranged and with something that bounces, and the final fight is also easier. I like the shield the most but the spear or in theory (I have not done it ) the bow could work as well (Think I'll try the bow again, I was mostly using Shield when I played last).

If you get the blessing from the gods that lets you fire a bunch of arrows at rapid speed the bow becomes legit ridiculous.

You gotta use the bow that loads your cast into your next shot. You load 3 casts and go around 1 shotting every enemy up close. Only downside is you have to spam your cast button 3 times between every shot but you get used to it.

I exclusively use the special when I use the bow. Slap a Ares or Dyonysis boon on it and just pop it off every room infecting everything with STDs

the hammer that makes it fire extra arrows makes for a denser spread and an Athena or Poseidon dash is a fun way to stay alive and create some chaos while theyre dying from the shit you gave them

that's pretty much what you kinda have to do tbh.

i'm sure that with the exact right specific boons it's really good, but the odds of that actually happening are very slim. as it is, the bow is just outclassed in near everyway by the gun

Zag bow is pretty gimped. Chiron, Hera, and Rama, however, are very strong, if sometimes a little dependent on hammers (namely the two special hammers, in the case of Chiron and Rama).

Mostly, I think the issue with Rama/Chiron is that you pretty much need to adjust your boon picks depending on which hammers you get, since that's what determines whether you should be focusing on attacks or specials. That's an extra level of flexibility that you don't need for other weapons, which can be off-putting and frustrating if you get unlucky.
