Only because dead cells has very little grind component while still having a progress system.

In dead cells youre mostly unlocking things to reduce variance and increase variability of runs.

In hades youre mostly unlocking things that make you stronger.

Hades is awesome though and Im enjoying it a ton and love the story and characters and atmosphere.

I've heard people complain that unlocking things in Dead Cells can make you weaker, thereby disincentivizing progress

This isnt a thing anymore like it used to be because you can selectively choose what items you want to have act as locked. I also say that it doesnt necessarily make you weaker as much as makes you get used to new playstyles and come up with new ideas.

Dead Cells is great, but I liked Hades better. I would say this is a pointless comparison to make, though, because both are very thoroughly worth playing such that making a choice between them is only going to be relevant in the small handful of cases where somebody will only ever be able to afford one.

It's like apples and oranges to me. I don't feel the two games compare all that well beyond a few similarities in design. They're both great games and I enjoy them both

I find hades more difficult of the two tbh, but like them both and Rogue Legacy as well (2 is still a work in progress).

I wouldn't want to choose between them, but Dead cells is a more tranquil/relaxed experience, while you have to freaking pay attention for Hades (at least I do).

Hades is more adrenaline, dead cells is more inner peace.

Rogue legacy is also more inner peace, honestly Hades is great if I wanna wake the fuck up or something (like i'm bored/sleepy etc).

If I'm about to crash or want to wind down, it's the last game I would play.

Though only hades has infinite dog pets (although if you add in Undermine you have dog pets there, and it's kinda relaxing as well).
