Do you use auto pay to bills?



I do but I do not use auto-pay for utility, CC, cell phone, streaming service, or annual subscriptions like Prime.

Some bills. For big bills I'm always a little afraid that I won't have enough to auto-cover them at some point, even though that's never happened.

Nah its just as easy to pay manually as it is to go back and check if bills and payments are accurate so I just do it all at once.

I have a direct debit setup for my internet but that's it. Anything outside of that I use contactless, bank transfer or pay online.

As I said auto pay means you can't control when things are paid. Without it I can. Infact some bills I've wanted to pay have let my off for the month for being a "loyal customer". It's rare but nice when it happens.

That reminds me just last month my phone bill was 3 times the amount it normally was so I checked my payment history and my accounts to make sure my payments were going through which wasn't the issue. I had to refresh the payment app a few times and it eventually displayed the correct amount but who knows what would have happened if autopay just went through with it and how much of a hassle I would have had to go through just to get that fixed after the fact.

Choosing when to pay bills, or what to pay first can definitely help. For example, maybe you have some medical troubles lately, and you now only have enough money for one bill until you get paid. But the first bill that would get paid by auto-pay have bill forgiveness for a late bill, but the second one doesnt. So you may want to pay that one first. Or you need to use the money for something else important first, but will pay the bill with the next check. Things like that So instead of having to set up autopay for stuff and canceling it whenever needed, I just do manual pay

Anyway, I like having nearly everything on manual pay so I can pay what needs to be paid first. And what I can afford at the time

Bills that are always the same, car loan, subscriprion services, etc get done with auto pay. Bills that can vary month to month don't.
