I always had an interest in this because I love astronomy and my dad used to work for the department of defense and he flat out won't admit area 51 exists or not to this day even though he's had to go to that area. I get on his ass about it and he gets pissed when I bring it up more than anything else. He said he's been to a few other bases in a couple other states where they hold you at gun point as you walk through certain areas. That was usually because they were working with nuclear warheads. He even told me he was told to get to a very certain gate in Vegas and not to attempt to get on the other plane. Space is unfathomably big. So why not? Who's to say some planet out there somewhere didn't actually get it right and figure shit out.
