Done with Bottom of the Well. Probably would have taken much longer if I hadn't remembered that stupid crystal switch behind the painting trick that stalled me for an hour last time I tried to play MQ. Stupid minidungeon.

Thinking of doing Spirit before Shadow this time, just to further differentiate between these back-to-back OoT playthroughs and so I can go ahead and get the rest of the pieces of heart I'm missing.

Im not 100% certain, but you might want the hover boots for one thing in the Spirit Temple, but that might just be for a Skulltula I forget.

Spirit Temple done. Honestly did the idea of optional areas of the dungeon being dedicated to Skulltulas better than Water Tempe MQ did imo, although these areas didn't take up such huge chunks of the dungeon for it. Not sure how I feel about the extra trip to the past if you want everything though.

Out of curiosity: that Iron Knuckle you need to have destroy thrones/pillars for the two Skulltulas in the room does respawn, right? I got them, but I can't imagine they would have just made two stupid golden spiders completely missable like that >>

Also, are the Gerudo Training Grounds different at all? If no, I'm skipping them this time through.

First room of this version of the Shadow Temple and already got stumped bad. Probably moreso than I should have. I think I'm going to regret doing this dungeon this late at night, but oh well

And finished with the Shadow Temple. Honestly was kinda disappointing; didn't feel that much different from the original after the first couple rooms threw me for a loop.

Going to hit Gerudo Training Grounds for useless item, and probably finish this tomorrow.

And finished with Master Quest. Much better "second quest" than Zelda 1's, and the fact that some enemies are actual threats now is great. Not sure if I prefer it or vanilla OoT offhand though; some of the dungeons here did some rather annoying things, and Water Temple honestly felt half-baked.

Moving onto Majora's Mask tomorrow. For better or worse it will be the 3DS version, as that's the only one I have access to without just emulating it. Kinda thinking of posting logs of what I do each cycle here.

Started Majora. Just did the first cycle while grabbing the adult wallet and bomb bag along the way, as well as taking care of the stupid Deku playground minigame.

Got caught up elsewhere yesterday, should be continuing today. God I hate how fast CE purges, wish I didn't have to make so many blatant bump posts whenever I miss a day.

Back to it here. Sitting just outside Woodfall Temple on day 2. Should be able to get everything in Woodfall except the spider house done this cycle, with enough time to get the Bunny Hood on day 3 as well.

God the remake completely butchered the Odalwa fight.

So, kinda got floored by a microburst storm here and left without power for hours, which at least gave me time to finish that in-game cycle. Cleared out all swamp-area masks, heart pieces, and upgrades sans the spider house, did everything to be ready to jump straight into Snowhead Temple next cycle, and took care of a few things in Clock Town, including its shooting gallery.

Snowhead Temple and everything in the area aside from the scarecrow heart piece and the Don Gero stuff done. Also knocked out the garbage Honey & Darling's minigames and the swamp spider house.

Goht's probably the least butchered fight of the remake imo, at least it didn't get rid of the best part (chasing Goht down as a Goron). Shooting the random giant eye with arrows is still dumb though.

Damn you need to try at least 1 3D zelda. OoT MM TP and maybe WW are all good ones to start on. SS and BOTW shake up the formula a little (SS) to a lot (botw)

Also if you like links awakening the oracle games may definitely be something you like

Definitely recommend it. If nothing else, give Ocarina a go and see how you take to 3D Zeldas.

Keep up the good work

Well, the thing that was going to occupy me got delayed a day, and I didn't feel like garbage today, so just got a long cycle done. Everything in Romani Ranch and Gorman Track, the entirety of everything needed to enter Great Bay Temple, most of the side stuff in the area except for the spider house and torch minigame, and everything in Ikana Graveyard.

Fuck whoever decided to completely destroy the Zora controls though. Easily the worst change in the remake for no good reason whatsoever, and makes the already tedious beaver races even worse.

Next up (whenever it is), Oceanside Spider House, Great Bay Temple, and almost certainly opening the way to Stone Tower Temple, I'm pretty sure I'll have enough time for that.

As expected, nothing done today, too much other stuff right now. This will be the case for the next four days or so as well in all likelihood, so don't expect much except bumps to keep from purging until Tuesday at the earliest.

Okay, Oceanside Spider House and Great Bay Temple with its awful boss cleared, almost all heart pieces not related to the Anju and Kafei quest cleared out, and the path to Stone Tower Temple opened. Next up, two cycles to get all the Anju and Kafei stuff done.

And finished with the big sidequest of the game. All that's left is All Night Mask stuff, 5000 rupees in the bank, and of course Stone Tower Temple and the endgame. May go ahead and finish it all tomorrow.

Oracles afterwards, probably doing Ages first since I've done Seasons first the last couple times I played these.

And Stone Tower Temple done. Just have a few heart pieces left (partially because I misplanned the All Night Mask and forgot you couldn't get it on a cycle where you also do the Anju and Kafei quest), and then off to the moon stuff.

Fuck the new Twinmold fight too. I kinda actually like the first phase, but the second part is just awfully designed even when you know what to do. Ruins the fun of the Giant's Mask as well by making you clunky as fuck. So that's basically three of the four major boss fights destroyed in the remake, with Goht still being slightly worse than his original battle.

Stone Tower is still the best dungeon in the series though.

oh god... I kind of want to do this for Final Fantasy when 16 is released. I already know I'm going to immediately regret it as I can't stand 12 and 15.

And Majora's Mask done. Always love coming back to this one; its weirdness works in its favor, and I generally love sidequest-heavy games. I don't even mind the low number of dungeon, especially with how quality they mostly are. Also, the transformation masks are just so damn fun, Goron Mask especially.

Now, the 3DS remake... it gets the job done but holy shit, outside of the quality of life stuff, every major change for the worse. 6/10 remake of what for me is a 10/10 game.

Oh man, I couldn't imagine doing this sort of binge for an RPG series, especially one with as many entries as Final Fantasy. Closest I can manage is my current on-and-off trekking through the Dragon Quest series for the past... 3-4ish years? Finally on XI here.

Alright, finished second dungeon. Link's Remakening definitely spoiled me, I took way too much damage just from trying to use the shield with R instead of the button I'd equipped it to lol.

That said, after the next dungeon is another one of my least favorite Zelda sequences so that might bog me down a bit. But then the Tokay stuff actually wasn't that bad this time, so maybe Goron minigame spam won't be either? Hopefully.

Dungeon five done. Cool boss idea, but fuck if the actual execution felt garbage. Had to reset the room twice not because of anything I did, but because the boss randomly left the blocks he was on to float over to the wall.

Now arguably my least favorite section of a Zelda game. Probably tackle minigame spam tonight.
