At least the reward for all that crap was a damn good dungeon. Love that you have to do it in both the past and present, a la Spirit Temple. Kinda not big on the mermaid suit though just for how it permanently changes your swimming controls.

Alright, eighth dungeon done and all pickups acquired (fuck the gasha nut and Maple pieces of heart btw). Just the Black Tower left whenever I'm able to drag myself away from Metroid Dread here.

Nope, didn't happen yesterday, all game time went to Dread. Maybe today.

And Ages finished. Very solid outing overall marred by a few sequences (Tokay island, Rolling Ridge, Jabu-Jabu) I never enjoy, although a couple of those did go much better this time. Not too much else to say about this one for the moment.

LttP > MM64 > OoT/MQ > MM3D > LA > Zelda 1 First Quest > Zelda 2 > OoA > Zelda 1 Second Quest

Seasons will start once I'm able to drag myself away from Dread.

wtf got completely softlocked. Was riding Ricky to Spool Swamp, got out to check a house (the one where you trade the Ghastly Doll for an Iron Pot), and when I came back out he was completely gone, did not appear on any other screens, and I had no way out of the area because I had no way to cross gaps. wtf.

Plugged along a bit further in this between my second playthrough of Dread. Finished up the fourth dungeon. Man does linked game make you overpowered quickly lmao. Just a couple other notes

• tfw Maple drops her heart piece, but it bounces somewhere impossible to reach. I hate this and the gasha nut heart pieces so much.
• Never realized how good ember seeds actually are for combat. Actually deals with peahats mid-flight.

And somewhat back in the swing of things. At least finished off the trading sequence and got to the entrance of the next dungeon. The whole sequence of getting to and through Tarm Ruins is one of my favorite parts of the game tbh; the music in Tarm is so damn good.

Perhaps "prep" is the wrong word, but it's basically just revisiting the whole series to be back into a full Zelda mood by the time BotW2 hits. Also a chance to revisit games I've only finished once before (Twilight Princess, Spirit Tracks, Skyward Sword, and BotW).

As for BotW2, they've not only announced it, they've shown it in a recent Direct.

Okay, all side stuff cleared out, all secrets with Ages done, up at the eighth dungeon. Which is a real motherfucker, so I'm going to need to put a fair bit of time aside for it.

I've never done Ages or Seasons, personally. Handheld Zelda in general never hit me quite right, like I could just 'feel' that they were done by smaller development teams with different styles from the mainline entries.

Alright, last real dungeon of the Oracles is done. Bit of a weird feeling in that, like Jabu-Jabu's Belly, it went way easier than usual this time, but that's purely because I've played it so many times by now. Easily one of the hardest dungeons in any 2D Zelda, except for some of the Second Quest garbage.

Just the final bosses left, going to knock them out tomorrow.

And Oracle games done. Took way longer than they should've tbh. Of the two, I find Seasons stronger overall, just for far fewer dumb parts like minigame mayhem for a dungeon a key. On their own, they're both very solid games. I do love how actually challenging they can get (the last boss of Seasons and the linked game final boss especially), and the dungeon design in both is fantastic. But both are lacking a certain... I'm not even sure what compared to Link's Awakening.

That said: the linked game stuff is quite neat, and helps elevate this duology. A bit cumbersome to actually do these days, but the extended endgame and how much you can break the game with early upgrades is well worth it for me. Good shit, Capcom.

Alright, finally sat down and did all the tutorial shit. Just a few thoughts.

- Well hey there Minish Cap assets.
- Glad to see the Magnetic Gloves return in at least some game.
- Going to take a long while to adapt to having this second Link around, and having to switch with or leave him behind. At least the AI automatically does stuff.
- Stunning an enemy with two shells on either side of its soft body, then grabbing the shells from either end and pulling until it gets torn in half to kill it? Fucking metal.
- Level select feels super weird for Zelda, but then this is a spinoff so. Only three areas though besides the tutorial area? Maybe something will open up I suppose.
