Apparently those crazy folks cook the dough and sauce but put the cheese and topping on AFTER the dough and sauce is cooked, AND the cheese and toppings are cold.

Imo that's worse than pineapple.

That does sound odd, but still not evil incarnate like pineapple.

Just remember what they used to say about Ohio - the reason more astronauts are from Ohio than any other state is because, when you grow up in Ohio, you want to get as far away from it as you can as soon as possible.

It's not. Ohio Style Pizza is just cheese first, then sauce. Nothing else changes.

Wrong, all wrong.
Cold cheese pizza comes from Oneonta, NY. See Tinos pizza.

The only "Ohio style" I know of is Dayton style which is a bar style pizza: cracker thin crust cut into squares and very salty.

Marco's Pizza started in Toledo and Avalanche Pizza in Athens, OH is recognized as one of the first pizza places to go the whole local, organic route and it has excellent pizza.

https://pizzaneed.com/ohio-valley-style-pizza/

Ohio Valley-style pizza is a rarity in the culinary world. It is a dish that gets served partially cold.

Youll find this unique approach to making pizza in a string of towns along the Ohio River Valley. Steubenville is the center of this exciting take on a classic dish, but several small towns have at least one restaurant or pizzeria that serves it.

An authentic Ohio Valley-style pizza comes out of the often with a baked crust, tomato sauce, and a thin layer of melted cheese. Then a thicker mound of mozzarella gets piled on top of it so that you experience a hot and cold bite simultaneously.

You must devour this style of pizza to maximize the flavor profile. The cold cheese begins to melt almost immediately as the dish gets served, so it can turn into a congealed mess when it sits for a while. Thats why youll see most orders are for individual servings for this regional offering.

Delivery options are also available, with fresh slices experiencing a bit more melting than a pizza served fresh in the pizzeria.

So, it is just a normal pizza with a crap ton of shredded cheese added ex post facto. Sounds about right for Ohio. It seems like they add about pound of a shredded cheese to everything. Like, here is this chilli dog, let's turn it into a cheese delivery vehicle. Yeah, the mid west is pretty tough on the arteries, but I feel like Ohio is actively trying to murder them with the over the top cheese content

I've lived in Ohio my whole life and have never seen a pizza that is described as such.

Ohio style around here is crispy thin cracker crust, and some places use rock salt when shapping the dough, instead of flour. That's not very good imo, it's very salty.

**edit** apparently the pizza I'm referring too is actually "Dayton Style" lol, Ohio is special and we get multiple styles.

That Ohio Valley style honestly sounds like someone had Skyline here once, and just assumes we put mounds of cold cheese on everything.

I live in the Ohio Valley, and I legit have never seen a pizza with cold cheese on top anywhere.

I googled some pics and it would only work as a cheese only pizza. Any toppings would be unbaked so would taste completely different than normal and most likely worse.
