At all my past jobs the only reward for working hard was extra work. Now my bosses will buy my lunch/dinner or get me a bottle of wine for helping with minor things.

Yeah it feels good when youre appreciated for working hard. Got a bunch of compliments on my work ethic yesterday and the group Im with are taking extra care to train me up right.

Do jobs like that exist. I have not found one.

While I've worked hard to get where I am I also acknowledge the privilege I've had along the way, because not everyone has the same opportunities

I would rather get free lunches and bottles of wine over nothing. Raises are nice but it's hardly practical to give them out weekly.

I've had some privileges too, like it was a privilege to have great parents that instilled me with a good work ethic.

Were renting a bus to go check out an art exhibition. Its more of a moral booster and team building outing since alot of changes have happened within the staff over the last year or so, plus all the Covid stuff. Should be fun though.

but now I want a pizza making party.

Ive been experiencing the same with my new job. So many supervisors and managers make the mistake of rewarding hard work with more work.

Then they act surprises when overworked people find jobs elsewhere.

It's not getting lunch instead of a raise, it's an additional thing. You are really getting bent out of shape over nothing

Well it sounds like this is a new experience for you so I understand where you're coming from. For me, I'm just tired of waiting for my hard work to "pay off", as the expression we're fed most of our lives claims.
