That was one of the best things about the time I spent working in a lab. Bike into work, pop into the fridge for a moment, come out feeling refreshed and comfortable. Having one in the bakery I worked at also came in handy, especially given how warm it could get in there.

I wasn't aware this was a common thing. Not unless you worked in a supermarket or something.

It's pretty much just labs (primarily biology/biochem, though sometimes chem), food service, and grocery places that have them. Usually also walk-in freezers, and in the case of labs, those will sometimes be as cold as -40.

Yeah that's what I mean. Only specific areas have them but TC was very blase about it. Guess places with other storage needs too like banks (vault) or large document holdings. They have big cold storage areas but those are restricted for regular staff.

Why do I need a walk-in fridge when I have an AC and I work from home?
I could just like take a shower.

A walk in fridge for your home seems a little excessive but I would love all the space to store food.
Sometimes a normal fridge just seems too small.

The only time I've ever experienced anything resembling "too long" in a walk-in fridge was when I was actually doing an experiment in the fridge and spent close to an hour in there, and even then I just wore a light jacket and was fine (at the other extreme, spending an hour in a 37C incubation room was miserable). In colder weather, it's less fun to go into the fridge, but then you get to enjoy coming back out into the heat (especially in a kitchen setting), which is always nice.

Now, organizing stuff in walk-in freezers? Especially when you didn't expect to do so and it's the middle of summer so you don't have a jacket with you? That's decidedly less pleasant, and needs to happen in bursts of a few minutes at a time.

Then we are in accord. Walk-in freezers are best in small doses, unless one has winter gear prepared and can weather the storm.

The walk-in cooler/freezer at Walgreens was the best. It was cold, dark, and quite with no customers bothering me. I loved being assigned to restock that place because it meant for the next hour or so (depending on product and the like) I was basically free to relax and work alone. I didn't goof off or anything like that; but I won't deny I kept looking for things to restock to draw it out as long as possible.
