American Airlines was forced to CANCEL a flight from North Carolina to the BAHAMAS after a group of 30 TEENAGERS aged 17 and 18 who were on their way to party hardy for the summer vacation REFUSED to wear MASKS while on the flight and screaming their freedoms and were then forced to sleep at the airport overnight because they were too young to check in to a HOTEL!!

Flight 893 was supposed to leave Charlotte Douglas International when passengers say the group of rowdy kids from Boston started being "very obnoxious" and yelling about wearing masks

They were on their way to a graduation trip as it's not clear who was chaperoning the misfits as AA only allows those aged 15-17 to travel unaccompanied

Stephanie Kryzwankis filmed herself while on a call with News19 from the plane as a young man behind her waves and says he aint wearing no mask

The group of seniors were celebrating their graduation and were being rowdy and refusing to wear masks

A spokesperson confirmed the group was non-coplaint with the federal mask mandate that requires mask on plane

But the teens became disruptive to other passengers and yelled obscentities and wouldn't follow instruction who claimed the mask mandate was OVER

Malik Banks who was sitting next to them said "It was bad. Firstly they yelled, then they cussed and they were obnoxious. It wasn't all of them but i'd say 80 percen tof them were terrible kids"

They were forced to wait 6 HOURS before they were told what was going on.

Christina Randolph said "All they had to do was follow the rules, put the mask on, sit there, o smart mouth comments. They couldn't do i"

It was rescheduled the next morning as all passengers including the teens were rebooked AFTER they agreed to wear the masks

Those on flight were given free hotel and meal vouchers except the teens

I assume the crowd was too large, they will often kick a few passengers off the plane but this was either a financial thing or they didn't want to have some sort of fight break out when they tried to remove each passenger.

Though I guess they would still charge them even if they were kicked off the plane, so probably just too many to deal with.

Way past tired hearing about whiners wanting people to wear masks.

They ended up giving the other passengers hotel/meal vouchers and rebooking them for another flight the next morning, sans brats. I'm guessing, given the number of kids they had to deplane (along with their luggage), that disrupted the schedule of flights by enough that they couldn't simply take off once they were finished and had to cancel that day's flight instead.

It says that the brats didn't get meal vouchers or hotels, but got rebooked after agreeing to wear masks.

I'm inclined to agree, but at least everyone else had the extra costs of their shenanigans paid for. Presumably, that was an easier option, legally, than prohibiting them from boarding a flight they were following the rules of.

Former flight attendant here. Unruly passengers refusing to follow the rules in the cabin is unfortunately more frequent these days (alcohol intoxication excluded)
and with a few unique exceptions, such as the remarkable UE Flight 3411 situation, it never works in their favor.

Its really simple, just follow the rules and there will be no problem. Unless of course theres a technical problem. Or bad weather. Or sudden health issues. Or an onboard fire situation. But apart from that, youll most likely go from A to B.
Oh yeah bird strikes can happen too but its rare like most of the above mentioned scenarios. Flying is safe.

Start a scene like these teens however, and youll receive warnings. Failure to comply on the ground leads to certain disembarkation with or without airport security.
In the air with a situation like this, the responsible captain will contact the nearest ATC-tower, order police escort on the ground and land on the closest airport where the unruly passengers, hopefully less obnoxious and more humbled at this point, will have to book a new flight to their destination.
Its not worth it.

The wear the fuckin mask. If you can do it for a presumably 8 hour work day then I dont see why you cant for a flight.
