Sadly I never finish games anymore, I can't even remember the last game I finished.

But today, today I finished Ori and the Blind Forest....which was quite hard btw. I feel like I accomplished something:)

I don't know why it's so hard to finish games now, my attention span is just so short I guess, or games are too hard for me now and I refuse to use guides etc.

So many games that they make require you to use a guide at this point or look things up, and I'll just stop playing instead of doing that. Add in the large number of "new shiny" things always being released, and I just never get to finish anything.

Glad I finished this one though, it was very good, hard, but good, so rewarding.

For me, probably BOTW but that was crazy short.

Pokken Tourney DX I wound up getting stuck on a part of the story mode. And then that new WWE game just sucked.

...wait, I beat the NSMB WiiU port last. But that was also crazy short.

I have my Wii U set up to give BOTW another shot (only got a few hours in so far). I keep planning on getting to it but Genshin Impact distracted me for awhile (deleted it now). I also have Fenrix Raising though which is probably more fun (since there is no weapon damage in it) and on my pc.

NSMB reminds me of the last game I finished (At least the main part) which was Super Mario Odyssey (in 2 days cause it's mega short) and then I sold it back lol. That was back when it came out so quite a few years ago. I don't think I finished any other games since then.

Right now I'm trying to play through Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire, but a lot of poor design choices and a lot of apathy for the setting and characters is making it really, really hard for me to play more than maybe 15 minutes at a time before I just drift off to do something else.

At this rate, I may finish it sometime in 2024.

Ehh, there are plenty of games that don't require you to look anything up as long as you're not a completionist or a perfectionist. Though to be fair, a lot of them still require a degree of time investment that most people may not be comfortable with.

Unless you're loaded, save your money, and wait for sales. This isn't the 90's anymore, and most games don't become hard to find. And don't pre-order.

Breath of the Wild is a long game. Especially on a first playthrough.

Depends on how you play it.

Even without using glitches or obvious tricks, there are people who've beaten it in only a few hours. Sure, they missed most of the content of the game, but it is possible.

Non-completionists could probably rush through their first time and avoid obvious side-quest stuff and beat it in 20-40 hours if they're good (and potentially using online maps and guides).

Of course, it also depends on what you consider long. If most games you play tend to be around 10 hours, then a 40-hour run is going to feel long. But if you're used to playing 120+ hour RPGs, then 40 is going to feel relatively short.
